I’d rather read the content digitally than in print. I guess I’m in the minority or younger than some of you curmudgeons :)

Id also rather not wait for a month end date to consume the content. Write a good article, publish it on your site and let me consume it as I have time. Keep me coming back on a weekly basis for content and serve me relevant ads each time I visit. Heck, that’s one of the things I like about the forums.

I actually read the ads in magazines.  I ignore them in digital media because I hate ads slowing down my browsing experience.

"Video killed the radio star", internet killed the magazine. Forums replaced the build thread, chinstagram replaced the show car spreads, Greg's slit and Facebook marketplace replaced the weird ads in the back of magazines. And red tube replaced the hot chicks spreadin' it on the hood.

At 35yrs old, I can confidently say the world has gotten worse.

The actual writing in GRM/CM isn't the best in the business, but the content keeps people coming back. R&T is actually one of the best of the domestic magazines for writing quality - they changed focus about four years ago and made that a priority. It's the only magazine I pick up where I check the bylines first. I'll read a Sam Smith article about watching grass grow, and the combination of Zach Bowman and discomfort is gold.

Couldn't agree more.

I only subscribe to R&T and GRM/Classic M. The latters mostly because of this great forum they provide. If there was a paid option for the forum, with maybe a couple of paid members only sections I would not subscribe.

Same here actually. I agree with E36 M3ty ads ruining the user experience but GRM actually does a good job of that

C'mon. I can't be the only guy who cracks open any magazine containing a TireRack ad, and doesn't spend a few minutes comparing wheel weight vs. cost?

Man, I was sick about this notice.  I subscribe to (or used to) multiple car mags.  I do read the ads, Car and driver still makes me laugh out loud and some of their writing is the absolute best.  I never expected every issue to have pure gold, but most have a nugget.  Car craft was a nice read and I loved learning from it.

I just can't get used to the fact that I won't be able to take a magazine out somewhere with a cup of coffee.  I didn't read automobile cover to cover but I always looked forward to it.  Is anyone old enough to remember the car and driver CRX with dual engines?  When car and driver drove the corvettes to Alaska?  That sparked a bucket list item for me as a kid.  The crx was just crazy.  How about when they road tested the platform that takes rockets and the space shuttle to the launch pad?  Car and driver was the bomb.    Some of the writing of David E. Davis?  There was some great writing.  Now we are forced to go online? I'm trying to pare down my screen time, not increase it.

While I love what the internet has done for our hobby or lifestyle, the death throes of print are just awful.  Every day I am sounding more and more like my father.  I hate having to go on Facebook to check out my local clubs but I have learned how to avoid most of the vitriol.  I'm worried what amazon is doing to brick and mortar  stores.   Now I'm worried that I will be dragging my kindle down to the beach to catch up on GRM.  Shoot the artwork and photos in Automobile just don't look the same on one of these stupid devices.      I don't think I ever heard my parents say how much they hated how things were changing, but I hate some of these changes.  I'm am more and more living in a world I don't like  and don't understand.
