This is what happens when you feed the staff too much sugar--hey, they were birthday cupcakes.
Of course we have some quick cars here in the fleet, but we have some slow ones, too. So, who has the slowest? Tom's diesel Benz 300SD? David's Catalina Safari? Darren's TDI Volkswagen? Something else? Later this month we're heading to the drag strip to collect some figures.
So, any guesses as to what these cars will run? Will anyone break into the 18s?
Wife's Accent.... 0-60 in "maybe". Quarter mile "When it wants to".
Don't forget Alan's automatic Yaris, Jane's Nissan Sentra, or Casey's diesel F1,000,000 pickup truck.

Since this will be a nighttime exercise, sadly that one is staying home.

300SD....those things are snails.
Correct, I do have a giant magic snail. It's going to BRING THE PAIN!!!

35 seconds in the quarter. I don't have the patience for that run.

This might make it a little less slow but my money is on the MB.
Ah well, if it was going it would be a sure winner.
To make this a little more interesting, I think each of us should pick a dial-in time now--how fast do we think we will go? Whoever gets closest to their dial-in will win some piece of random crap found in my office. (No, you can't have the deep-well 17mm socket sitting on my desk.)
I'm thinking the wagon will run an 18.5. Wait, that's crazy. I'm going to say 19.5 seconds.
Also added to the mix: Debbie's PT Loser.

300SD: 20.2
Catalina: 18.5
Not sure which TDI we're talking about, but those are my guesses for the others
Darren has a TDI Golf. It's white. The GTI wheels make it look extra sporty.

Did someone say 2006 Scion xB? (Import Faceoff is coming to Hebron OH in September again, I suggested a class for cars that go 0-60 "eventually".)
EDIT: crap, skimmed the original post, thought this was a general slow-car post. Carry on.)
60 foot times will be VW quick, followed by Catalina and Superdiesel. Quarter mile time will move the superdiesel well up the finishing order. Catalina is a Poncho 400, correct? Gonna be a pick-em between Cat and SD. TDI will be last, unless its not.
Yep, the Catalina has the original 400 topped with a four-barrel. All of the cars are pretty-much bone-stock. I say "pretty-much" since Darren's VW has an exhaust, wheels and springs.

I think the benz will come in last. Need more specs on the diesel truck...he could bring home the trophy.
edit: I misread the rules. I'd say if the slowest car wins, then the benz will probably bring home the trophy.
My sister in law's early TDI automatic couldn't run the quarter in under 20 seconds.
One problem: Darren's Tdi is only a year or two old....
My old Falcon. I once drag raced a friend who was on his moped. He even gave me a handicap start.
I will always remember his look of utter astonishment as he managed to overtake me, and win the race.
How will you know if they aren't sandbagging?

Honor system.
The owner of the slowest car wins. The drivers do not drive their own vehicles.
