This is one of my favorite industrial videos on youtube.

If you haven't got an hour to kill, skip to 11:13, where you can watch men forge a stovebolt 6 crank with power hammers.

Does anyone remember "Industry on Parade"? Loved that as a kid.

My brother works at a forging plant and that's still they way they run (though mostly making rigging for ships, bridges and oil rigs). They are so old school that it's probably some of the same guys.

My great grandfather was a foundry man for Crane Valve in Chicago. I enjoy watching the sand castings in the foundry.

I was going through my dad's report cards (class of 1953) and he took a LOT of classes that were mechanics, drafting, machine shop, AND foundry. I can list them later but you can see where these guys were headed to work.

In 36 they still used wood framing inside.
