i have the VIN from the avalanche that i traded in in march. it looks like the dealer sent it straight to auction as it never got listed for sale on their site and it was not there the next week when i went back to take care of a couple things. i google the vin and come up with nothing that isn't junk(fake free vin check sites, and one site claiming it's for sale but they have the ad from 3 years ago when i bought it in virginia).
i'd love to find out where it ends up and get some records and info into the hands of the new owner so they know what's done to it, since buying parts for modified vehicles that you don't know the origin of the parts can be a bear.
VIN is 3gnek12z95g284577
Color and mileage when you traded it? Also what part of country was it traded? LS, LT, z71. I will see what I can come up with.
let it go, man... it's not your problem any more.

black, 156k, LT Z71, NE ohio.
i let it go the day i traded it in and am happy as can be that it's gone and i have my new truck, but i figured if an enthusiast buys it(someone who notices the half ton avalanche they're buying has 8 lugs and know something is up versus the dealer who asked "can you put the stock wheels back on?") they would appreciate some of the info i have.
some 1/2 ton GM trucks had 8 lug wheels, so that in and of itself isn't too weird.
Avalanches are oddball trucks, i'm sure there are Facebook groups dedicated to people that think they are special because they own one... join some of those groups and post the info, you might just find the person that has it now without skirting the law by going thru "official" channels..

Yeah... when I sold my Golf, I gave the guy a piece of notebook paper that had all the weirdnesses on it (switch on dash is manual wiper rear wiper control, etc) but when it left the driveway, it was Somebody Else's Problem.
Some auction deals are made in the parking lot and the truck never saw the bright lights.
Wait 6 months and try CarFax?
i posted on the avalanche forum that if the new owner pops up here's the info, so that's as far as i'm efforting this one.
