How to get rats out of a car?

Rats?  Or mice?

How does a rat even get into a 2019 Subaru, unless it has a key?

Also filed a claim with insurance due to the possibility of the hantavirus. The kids mom is losing her mind over that part.

Check the pictures I just posted. It was a rat. They don't like storms, she was stuck at the kids school because they wouldn't release them due to a nasty storm that rolled through (Tornadoes not far away) and I'm guessing it hopped up into the wheel well and decided to make a new home. 

I couldn't help but think of the commercial with the house with the Ratt problem.

I guess there was two in the front and three in the back?

You need a couple of Rat Terriers. 

Throw some cheese out and hope they go after it??

My dad went over and took apart a lot of the car and found out where it got in. It had used seat padding, sound deadening, and so on to make a nest. More damage than I anticipated. I called Subaru and got an estiate on parts alone. Looking at well over $2700 for rear seats, 3 seat belts, some trim, sound deadening, and so on. 

The passenger rear fender where the rat got in. Chewed through that cheap plastic.

Car is at a body shop for further diagnosis on behalf of insurance. Insurance also keeps avoiding my questions about "hantavirus." Typical USAA avoiding the difficult questions.

Believe me, I'm getting an earful about it every other hour. I got her a rental car for the time being and apparently a Prius doesn't cut the mustard for her either. At least we agree on that; however, that's all the rental car shop had. 

I swear this is her plot to get an Ascent or Outback XT. She downsized to the Crosstrek from an FXT and has been complaining about the lack of power ever since.

Some people keep rats as pets.  They are known for their intelligence, cute little ears, and beady eyes.

That definately differs from a wild swamp rat that jumps into a car and decides to deficate all over the place and nest.

I guess that emotional support rats are out of the question then. 

While funny, domesticated rats probably don't carry the plethora of diseases that wild rodents do.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone in here had an emotional support "cat" that was actually a raccoon or possum.

No, I do not think domesticated rats and swamp rats are the same critter.
