The text was short and to the point: Drive and Waffle House?
Sold.
In.
Let’s do it.
No big plans, no box seats, no exotic locations. But I know we’ll still have fun: two friends, two cars, a common love of driving and breakfast foods.
Might get grits with my eggs. Or hash browns. No wrong answer.
The weather forecast …

I'm at a point in my life where yardwork starts to sound like an ideal way to spend the weekend...
In reply to Colin Wood :
Oh yeah, I have yard work on the weekend schedule, too, hence why this is just a morning thing.
Although there is that music fest nearby in DeLand....
Do you guys have any good driving roads over on your side? Not many near us in Bradenton. I have a 914/kswap project in the works and a buddy is rebuidling the engine in his S2000, we've been trading texts about cruising "Tail of the Gecko" once we got our projects done.
drive 911, eat Waffle House. Grits or hash browns? There is truly no wrong answer. For the record, AngryCorvair goes covered chunked and peppered.
In reply to AngryCorvair (Forum Supporter) :
When doing hash browns, I just like them plain. (I know, I’m boring.)
In reply to Lof8 - Andy :
Yeah, we have some curvy roads over here–just gotta know where to look–and taking a peek at Tail of the Gecko now. Hmmm.....
Car is gassed and wiped down. Waffles or an omelette?

Try living in MI. We have no Waffle House. I have to drive an hour to one of the Toledo OH locations.
In reply to AngryCorvair (Forum Supporter) :
One day, we’ll have to go. You can be part of my Waffle House Project.
Definitely the sausage, egg, grits bowl !

I have been to Waffle House innumerable times. Love the coffee. Steak and eggs is good diner food. The hash browns are great. The grits are grits - I think they just microwave the same ones I use at home. Even the sammiches aren't bad.
But...
I have never had a waffle at Waffle House.

Enjoy breakfast, sounds like a great way to spend a morning. If it ever stops raining up here I'll see about doing something similar with my fun car.
Update: Perfect outing.
I decided to take the M3. It’s had a rough year with various issues and, now that they’re fixed, the perfect victory lap, so to speak.
The night before: gas up and clean up.
Saturday morning: We met, we chatted, we drove, we stopped at a park. Then we went to Waffle House. (Note: not his Mustang.)
Also note that I got “the good spot.” Had to wait a minute for it to free up.
My friend parked where the motorcycle is–also a “good spot.”
In reply to wae :
Oddly, for years, I didn’t go for the waffle, either: two eggs over hard with grits or hash brown and a biscuit. But the waffle is good. Worth checking out.
In reply to David S. Wallens :
"The good spot" isn't always the same in many parking lots, but, boy, when you do score that spot, it definitely makes any day better.
In reply to Colin Wood :
Oh, totally. Good chatter about finding the “good spot” in the Off-Topic forum: Do you over analyze your parking strategy?
