The door jam on my Cayman is pretty low. When getting in/out of the car I tend to drag my hat or helmet on it. Porsche painted all of the interior plastics with "soft touch" paint that scratches pretty easily. I was thinking about placing a piece of sticky backed felt/alcantara/other(?) where my head rubs on the jamb. Any suggestions?

I put my helmet on in the car when I race my Cayman.

berkeley that soft touch paint too mine is all E36 M3ty now. I have seen folks strip it off and paint the trim pieces with a harder paint.

First thought was crystal clear Gorilla tape, works well for bicycle frames. Note when applying it that the sticky side saves any fingerprints that come into contact with it forever (may not be an issue if it doesn't have to look good).

Edit: I've also learned to put the helmet on after getting into the car, after picking up scratches on the helmet...
