That's why I applied for entry for my '99 Radical Clubsport. I did '21s at Summit last weekend in the qualifying race and am pretty sure 20s were easily within reach 'til the Sunday race turned into an hour+ long, 5 laps - mount rains - 4 laps, mess.

Assuming I can figure out VIR again fast enough having not been there in 2 years and there's a class for very small displacement cars owned by amateurs w/o shop affiliation, I should do OK.

Hey Eric, so you got to drive in the rain, how'd that go? Once you learn the car I think you'll be down in the teens. My brakes failed on Sunday so I need to replace some parts so the pedal retains pressure...and works.

For the people that see sports racers as too expensive- If you can weld, and you use the right thickness tube that SCCA suggests in the GCR (for safety)it really isn't too expensive at all. You can make the chassis around a small sportscars' suspension you want to use, or use a bike shock and spring. The front can easily be a pull or push rod with only one/shock spring. If you make all the shocks adjustable, that's most of the tuning you need. the control arms are really nothing but 2 steel rods on the top/bottom and you can either put a shock/spring between that, or mount them inboard. Buy the engine you want off of E-Bay due to all the crashed/dumped bikes and make the engine compartment and mounts to fit whatever engine you choose. Every car has wheels that can range from cheap to expensive so grab pretty much any set from 13 to 15in and wrap them in descent a descent size tire of your choice and mount those to the hubs/axle and steering also donated from your favorite car and you're good to go.
