I'm fitting a hydraulic slave cylinder in place of the clutch cable on a Mustang T-5 trans, I'm looking for one that will mount to the old cable hole and reach to the clutch arm, found a few on-line from Speedway, Summit and the like, but was wondering if anyone has had good or bad experiences with what's available on the aftermarket. Essentially need the type with a rod at one end that would fasten to the bracket with the cable hole in it and an adjustable shaft at the other that would attach to the clutch throwout arm. Sort of simple.
I already have the pedals and master, just looking for a quality slave cylinder.
Any recommendations/ suggestions/cautions would be a terrific help ! !
Thanks,
T
i have one of these. works great, just make sure you have a large enough master cylinder to move enough fluid. i had the problem.

I used a luk replacement for a 1990s toyota (or nissan, I forget) pickup. Replaced the stock rod with a threaded rod and attached to the throwout arm. The only negative is the bleed screw is upside down - but I don't use the bleed screws to bleed slave cylinders. Mine is a push type so mounted to a plate on the side of the trans. The cable "throw" length is something like 1 1/4 - I have a little shorter throw, so moved the connection as close inward as possible. Might be some better choices of slaves with longer throws. Maybe hit up a good parts store to rummage through some slave cylinders. Otherwise, I think there are some wilwoods that work - they're just closer to $100 than replacement $15 units.
Thanks guys. I need a pull style to work on the Mustang T-5, essentially one of those with the threaded rod at one end that would pass through the clutch cable bracket hole, and the pull rod at the other that would fasten to the throw out arm. Pretty simple, but looking for some real world knowledge/opinions/suggestions as to which is the best to go with.
I'm trying to find out what the bore is on the master cylinder, the engine/trans is going into my MGA coupe and I want to use the stock combination brake/clutch dual master, both for ease of installation and stock appearance.
I'm dressing down the 5.0 to mimic a stock '66 289, sort of a what if Shelby couldn't get his hands on an ACE scenario . . . what might have been the alternative.

I will only add that I'm using DoT 5 fluid in all hydraulic clutches that I rebuild from now on.

Which one (brand and supplier) did you pick up? I could use a little guidance, I'm not sure of the quality, you know?
The clutch master has a 7/8" bore, think that this is sufficient?
Again, not sure of much on this modification.
Thanks for the help ! !
