The paint on my 924s is getting shabby. I was thinking of going flat black with some strategically placed dark red highlights. The stealth paint job would also include the rims. I was thinking of a small dark red strip in the rims.
OR should I return the car from its dodge emerald metallic green (matched the truck of the previous owner) to the gun metal silver/grey that was the OE color.
I like both options. Since the car was not properly jamed so going back to the silver grey is not really an issue and since the interior is black on black either will go well with the interior.
My fear is the black will attract the attention of the local LEOs where as the silver just disappears (I hate silver / grey cars they are a SOB to see some times) and never attract much attention all the time. I like to fly under the radar when ever possible (literally and figuratively)
What do you all think?
Just my opinion so it is worth about as much as the pixels it is using on the screen....but
Every teenage owned piece of crap on the road seems to be ruined with flat black spray bombs. Either with red wheels or the even less inspired "I had some extra flat black rattle cans so I did the wheels too" option. I saw at least 15 today and I only drove 30 miles or so. I don't know how the LEO's react to it but it does garner negative attention from at least me.
Don't do it. Please!
Dear gawd, just say NOOOOOOOO to flat black!!!!

Plastidip one of the more fun colors not black?
I agree you should just say no to flat black. OTOH, disappearing is always handy*, so silver gray works for me.
*Maybe add a decent rear-facing red fog light for when disappearing is NOT handy.
I've found that scratched, sun-burnt OEM paint with some dents and dings mixed in makes a car nearly invisible to the tax officers.
Loosen up a bumper bracket so it hangs about 1/2" lower on one side and you'll complete the package.
Camouflage and gun turret, ala Lenard part 6.
Stock color sounds nice, flat black not so much.
Flat black, IMO looks great.
BTW: I am 37 y.o
There was a flat black 924s for sale recently that the owner couldn't give away. Nobody wanted the "boy racer" blacked out look. Don't ruin your car.
Ah, stealth as in the really obvious looking "stealth plane" look that everyone scorns at. I thought you would go with some kind of neutral beige that people will mistake for a toyota.
Yeah, after dealing with the white "primer" on my 924 for the past year, I'd say, "HELL NO!"
It is a huge pain in the ass as the dirt, grease, marks, etc sticks to it and won't come off, unless you sand the paint down and/or reapply.
Perhaps a satin would work better, but honestly at that point, just paint it with some gloss and get on with life.
Avoid flat black, IMO. Stealth is the order of the day.
No flat black, I'd got the OEM grey route but then again I already have a matching 'vette .
White is a great color for hiding from the LEOs. I got away with much hoonage in my white Mustang, even with rumblin' & cracklin' exhaust pipes.
I wonder how the plastidip white comes out...
