Grrr...last time when I changed the engine oil about 1000miles ago I somehow managed to overfill it by over a quart. I don't know how this happened because I'm very careful with stuff like that. I noticed it today when going up hill I got on the gas and the engine had a vibration and it felt like the clutch was slipping. Got home, put the car on the lift and noticed the oil leaking from the bellhousing. After saying a few colorful words to myself I checked the oil on the dipstick and it was showing quite a bit more than usual - ugh .

Anyway, I drained it partially and the oil level has gone down. I'll take it easy and watch it over the next few weeks and see how it progresses. I'm wondering if the clutch is done for and if the rear main seal will keep on leaking? I drive over 100 miles a day at freeway speeds.

This may or may not be off topic but on my Ranger V8 I found the oil over filled by almost a quart, and while draining the extra quart I noticed a strong gasoline smell. It seems that one of the new remanufactured injectors was leaking quite heavily. With the cam it was hard to notice it running so poorly.

Just wash the oil out of the bell housing and clutch with brake cleaner. Wear an old full face helmet while you spray. 44

Yep, happened to me on my motorcycle, the float was stuck open and the fuel drained into the pan. In this case, however, I think it was just me not paying attention.

Cleaning the oil from the bellhousing will mean dropping the exhaust, removing the driveshaft, starter, all the friggn bellhousing bolts etc at that point I might as well change out the clutch and the main seal. I've done the job before and not one I'm happy to do again.

Talked to a friend he said it's probably not as bad as it looks. The oil will burn off of the disc/flywheel and the RMS may continue to leak a little like most old cars. We shall see...

Nah there got to be a way. Theres no inspection plate? Try just pulling the stater and blasting it. if to much oil is in there it will glaze the disk, you got'a wash it out.
