I've owned somewhere in the neighborhood of 70 or so cars. Just picked up my 2010 challenge car and have to say - I broke nearly every rule of buying a used car with this one. Bought it sight unseen - even paid for it in advance. Picked it up at night - and took the seller (someone i had never met before) at his word on a lot of things. By all accounts I should've gotten burned or at least stranded somewhere... but so far it's much better than it was described, owner threw in about $500 worth of spares (for $750 car) and I've put over 800 miles on it without a hitch. It's almost too nice for a challenge car.

Sweet! There was an estate sale in Wildwood in January, and they had a bunch of E28 parts on the last day. I'll see if we saved the address and try to find out who it was.

last time I bought a car sight unseen I couldn't fit in it.....turns out I'm too tall for a bugeye sprite with a cage. You did a lot better than me!!
I don't know jack about E28's, but what's that "/M" thing on the grill?
Ooooh, I'm excited for this one! I had an E28 once, was one of my favorite cars ever!
That looks nice for a $750 car. Do you have more pics yet? I am a lover of the E28.

unless its an M535i its just a badge.
looks pretty sweet for a 750 buck e28. love the wheels.
Hey, gambling is just plain fun. And sometimes you win!

Sometimes... not so much.
I don't know what you're complaining about. There's no holes in the pistons, and all those pits just make it more aerodynamic, like golf balls.

You should have seen the head. I don't have a pic but it was spectacular. Those golf ball dimples were apparently made by various pieces of the intake valve that were unaccounted for. I suspect they were also responsible for the nibbles in the aluminum in the exhaust valve seat.
Sorry for the threadjack... I was just looking for an excuse to post that pic. Carry on with awesome bargain E28 goodness.

There's always room for carnage pics!
M badge is standard poser fare. Stock 535i - thankfully they ditched the metric wheels (except the spare). Everything works on it - interior is in great shape - paint is horrible. Also need to lose the diving platform bumpers. Now I need a theme.

I have a hankerin for some hotlinked carnage pics!
How the hell do you guys find these deals? All we get for deals around here are Miatas that have been eaten by the Chupacabra.
See?!?

Now that makes me jealous......... That's not far from me at all.
I did see a pretty decent e30 in Kenosha 2 weeks ago for $2000 OBO by the side of the road, should've stopped to investigate a little more.

Nice E28 and that chupacabra miata is just about the worst looking $1000 car i've seen in a long time.

But it's got new car scent! Even it it is screaming Locost.
I think a great little project would be retracting that front bumper.
Nice score.

I'm liking this guy's bumper approach - drop the bumper and stick on the rub strip
