I'm just excited so I thought I'd share with you all.
A co-worker knew a guy with a tire machine for fairly cheap. It has a "dead spot" in the rotation of the table that I'll live with and/or fix (eventually).

I could have done without the $145 traffic citation I got on the way to pick it up...but, eh...I got a tire machine!
Hopefully I can sling craigslist brand tires in the evenings to drum up funds for a balancer now.
Too bad you don't live anywhere close to me. I need some tires mounted.

that's awesome. I've got an old coats 1010, but it's murder on aluminum rims, so now I'm looking for a rim clamp like you got.
This is an RC-15a.
If anyone knows any good resources for info/parts/etc for it...I'm all ears.
The guys who had it seemed to think it was going to cost $1,000 to fix it. If that's the case, I'll live with it. But I have a feeling that once I dig into it, it won't be that bad. Who knows though.
Step 1. Plumb it and plug it in
Step 2. Change some tires
That'll do
Awesome!
I would love a tire machine and a balancer. I actually enjoy mounting and balancing tires.
ClemSparks. Official tire mounter. Has a ring to it.

There is something incredibly fulfilling about it, right?
At least for the first 100 tires or so ;).
It beats changing oil. Or did...when I did both oil changes and tires part time in college.
I read the thread title as "I got a time machine!" so while having a tire machine is really cool... I'm disappointed.
If someone can hook me up with a flux capacitor, I'll see if I can rectify that for you GPS.
[edit: I'll also need another jiggawatt or point-twenty-one)

I actually did the same thing. Damn reading comprehension deficit... Sure does make life funnier, though.

When I worked for Discount Tire, I didn't care for it too much because of the fast pace. When I worked at The Vair Shop, I enjoyed it so much more because we didn't do it all the time, but the boss liked it because he didn't care for it too much.

Good for you. Now just make sure the tire iron doesn't slip and whack you in the nose causing massive amounts of blood to spill out all over the place, making your garage look like a crime scene, while you are learning how to use it. Not that I'd have first hand knowledge of such an incident.
Ouch on the citation. I hope you got a good deal on the machine then. Where is this baby going to be stored?
The good news is, I already know how to break my nose with a tire iron...er...I mean, I already know how to use a tire machine.
It'll be operated (moreso than stored) at the current location of Authorized Personnel llc, dba Maypop Tire Service.
Man, I am so jealous. I'd give my two left testicles to have a tire machine in a garage large enough to house it, a balancer, and all my projects.
Nice score
You will need one of these in short order. And Yes just get one you will hate your self if you wait and then get one!!!!

Dean...I had not checked to see if mine has the "bead blast" feature. Do you know for sure that it does not?
I believe I felt air hoses going out to the rim clamps on the underside of the table when I was horsing it off the trailer yesterday...which makes me think it does. Then again, I don't see a tank mounted to the outside of the machine anywhere. Off to google to try to figure it out (and I'll look over the machine today as well).
I won't hate myself if I wait to get a blast tank because I am familiar with the explosive technique. But yeah...if mine doesn't have the feature, I'll want one.
