That vid's been around a while, but yeah, the 312B for my money is the one that will always make the hair stand up on the back of my neck. No matter how many times I watch it, I get the same chill from that wondrous sound....

At first I was like, "Why is there a Ford engine in that Ferrari?"

I wouldn't mind the wings going away, but they need SOME aero to help put that power to the ground. the horsepower has more than doubled since the last time F1 ran without front and rear wings, and I would NOT want to be the poor sap who was being paid to drive a, 850hp, 1350lbs car with no aero aid to speak of. scary stuff man

I WOULD, however, like for someone to make a class to run a reproduction of a '60s F1/F2/FJ without having to run it in vintage, and I'm talking about something other than Formula S

Yeah, they missed the late 70's ground-effect cars and the early 80's turbo cars. But, the 312T4 was butt-ugly and the mechanics probably couldn't keep a 126C running long enough to put it into a two minute commercial.

And, YES, give me the sounds of a 312B as an aphrodisiac anytime!

Me too. As F1 technology advances, the engines get higher and higher pitched...pretty soon only dogs will be able to hear them.

I think one thing that impressed me about the video is how it's obviously a car guy who made it. The idea of driving those cars on the street. The camera lovingly oogling those pipes, the nose, and other gorgeous details. The Pixar movie "Cars" was the same way. Great details in that one.

A friend works for the Martin Advertising agency the BFG contract. He's a real deal car guy. I like knowing those guys are out there and working in media.

I really hope the storyline isn't that NASCAR is popular worldwide... ugh... I wonder if Schumacher will be making an appearance again... this time driving a... um.. oh, never mind.

A customer of ours works at Pixar, and I got a chance to get a tour of the campus. He wanted to see my Locost. It was fantastic - they were still working on Cars at the time and we didn't get to see any of that, but the parking lot was obviously the parking lot of a bunch of car nuts. Someone was using a Nash Metropolitan as a daily driver, and Fantasy Junction is directly across the street.

You could download a full resolution version of that Shell ad a while back. I forget where, but if your Google-fu is strong you should be able to hunt it down. Definitely worthwhile.
