It was the last race of the season for King of the Heap. Our goal this season was to have as much fun as possible, points be damned. We had been sliding the car around at previous events with a welded diff and ridiculous ebrake handle. I was having a ball right until I wasn’t.

I had to watch just to make sure you didn't hit the armco. That stuff is expensive. Glad it was as mild as it was.

No kidding, I know one of the emergency response guys at NCM and he's told me about the bills a few people have gotten after stuffing their car into the armco.
Ouch! But I suppose when you are pushing to the ragged edge of control like you do when drifting, it's not a case of "if" you're eventually going to wreck, but "when."

The car was not damaged nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. The tie rod tab on the right front spindle broke off, but that’s it. Radiator is fine, it was hot and boiled over out of the overflow tank. A trip to pull apart for a spindle and this thing will be ready for next season!

King of the Heap at NCM. Cheap winter fun in $500 cars. The track portion is done HPDE style, passing is point by only, with very short sessions (3-4 laps). Safety is no different than an average HPDE since there is no wheel-to-wheel racing.
Pretty light hit. Same spot as the Marlboro Camaro stuffed it last year and his hit was HARD.

Not knowing when it was coming, that sharp/rusty dash structure 2" from your right knee was giving me anxiety.
