I've just finished watching "The Will to Win: The Making of Rush" and the storyline and the shooting looks absolutely phenomenal!!
BUT . . .
They appear to have captured the 70's fairly closely,
BUT . . .
The car scenes look as if they will be great,
BUT . . .
he just had to put that 70's bad color filter on it and ruin it.
I hated films during the 70's because they had the poor color and I hate it now. When we lived the 70's we had real color and we only were subjected to that awful color in the movies. If this is to be a movie of the 70's to show us how it really was then he shouldn't have taken the edge off with the poor color filters.
Of course that won't stop me from going to see it.
I was thinking you were talking about the band for a second there. And then I was going to come kill you.
I just went to Youtube and watched it myself, and I didn't notice any bad color filters...a lot of the footage shown in that documentary was from rain scenes and those had sort of a sepia tone, but that's because it was cloudy and rainy.

I'm going to go listen to Red Barchetta now...
Ahhhhhh that's better!
I like the "bad 70's colour" almost as much as I love the colour of the 1950's and 60's Hotrod magazines.
Looks like one more reason to go see it.
For me the color will get in the way of putting myself into the movie. That doesn't mean I won't go and doesn't mean I won't like the car scenes and the story, it's just I won't enjoy it as much.
If that is the only nit I can pick with the movie I'll be a very satisfied camper.
Looks like a well done film. Can't wait to see it.
The trailer for the film at the theatre doesn't have that bad color.

There will be a full onslaught of Canadian Commandos seeking to kill you in the near future. I'd bet before hockey season starts and in full denim camo.

The "making of" used the bad color on all the shots that appeared to be in the movie, but used real color for the behind the scenes action.
The cars & the camera work look simply awesome!!
They have many of the original cars in the movie.

I can't stand the band and I'm Canadian
I first heard Rush on a cassette player that played everything about 20% faster than normal. It was.... a bit much.
Nice job of floundering a perfectly good thread, Jerry.
Since we are already off track...

Is it a flounder if it's a joke? Seriously. Moving on.
Trust me, Rush is awesome, you will love the movie and Daniel Bruhl will make you think they used a time machine to actual use the real Lauda. Don'

Rush the group. The most undeservedly over rated band ever to disgrace the airwaves.

How is a band that gets almost no recognition overrated
I used to hate them until I realized all their albums are different and there were certain years that appealed to my tastes. There is such variety in there I don't see how someone could have such a strong opinion as to 'hate' that band especially since there actually are skilled musicians in that band and so many great bands consider them to be their primary influence.
I would reserve hate for something like Poison or Lady Gaga or whatever over-saturated MTV created bands have been around over the years.

I don't hate them ...
don't know enough about them to hate
no need to hate on something I never listen to (I just turn off the radio if there isn't anything I available, that I want to hear) ....
just don't care for them, since 90% of what I listen to is Bluegrass/really old country/classical/50's60's R&R/&blues

Almost no recognition? I sure hear a lot about them for them getting almost no recognition......
I like Rush OK. I'm partial to the mid-80s stuff, Time Stand Still, Red Barchetta, Subdivisions, etc. But one thing I've always noticed about them is that their fans are FANATICAL. I might be the only person on Earth that kinda likes them. It seems like everyone else that likes them follows them as if they were a kind of religion, and will harbor no criticism of the "Holy Trinity". That might be part of what turns some folks off.

This, remember, Rush is a 3 man band.
