I can't disagree that the 1.8 is not a great engine... just the rest of the car started to get dull.. especailly in the looks department.

the pre-90s had a nice wedge look to them

Not sure what it was, couldn't read the badge at first, I thought it was so big the "6" was an"8". Had to pass him on the right as he didn't move over. Didnt BMW used to make cool cars for enthusiasts instead of the lane blockers they make now?

Manufacturers make cars for the masses which we don't fall into. Unfortunately the masses want big barges that give the illusion of safety and affluence. Case in point, I get ragged on at work because of the cars I drive, they aren't pickups or SUV tanks. We go to lunch and no one wants to take my car, even when I promise to drive the RX8 sanely. So OK, I'll ride with them and burn their gas. Was even worse when I drove the Miata that my daughter now drives. At least the RX8 has a back seat.....kind of. There's even a guy that drools over my RX8 and said he wants one, meanwhile he gets in his big Mercedes and drives away leaving me thinking he could have a modified RX8 for less than his Mercedes.
