So Asa's school does a weekly report every Thursday. A few weeks ago I set some high standards for him to meet and if he did he got a new skateboard. Today he meet them so first stop from the school was the skateboard shop.
Tonight going to bed he asked me in his serious voice. You know that voice of him asking something really important but a little fear I'd say no? He asked if he could put a GRM sticker on his new skateboard. I hate parents that always brag about their kids but sometimes the kid just does something special.
You guys have a large order for bumper stickers now.
Parenting: You're doing it right.
I wish that I could like this twice.
Setting goals and high standards? Can you talk to some of the PTA parents at my kids school?
Having three kids that are better than I could ever ask for, I congratulate you (and him)!

Congrats and keep up the good work Stampie.
I"m not gonna lie. I d'awwed..
Way to go, Poppa Stampie...give yourself a pat on the back! How old is he? Only child?
Having a Facebook feed full of negativism, I like seeing stuff like this. Nice job.
He's about to turn 9 and yes an only child. He really is a good kid despite how screwed up his parents are. I'll update when the stickers come in.
Is he developing an interest in Drag Racing, Auto Crossing, road racing it cetera?

Positive re-enforcement and self-esteem support does work.
That is some kind of watch he wears!
He's getting a DORK sticker, isn't he?
In reply to Ovid_and_Flem:
You should talk to him about cars sometime. He knows more than most adults and is a better cool car spotter than all my car friends.
In reply to NOHOME:
He got that watch a while ago and doesn't take it off for anything. 24/7 it stays on his wrist.
In reply to Appleseed:
I actually thought about that but have you seen what happens to the bottom of these skateboards? He sure wasn't going to get mine. I ordered 10 bumper stickers so he'll have back ups after a few grind accidents.

Tell him to smile. He is among friends here and getting a new stick that you earned is a great accomplishment. If he wants to be a DORK get a set of stencils and cut out the friction tape on top of the board. It won't get destroyed in a grinding incident and will look cool.

If he does want a dork sticker, he can have mine. I'd be happy to mail it to you
They came in. Got him to smile this time.

Looks like you lied to us about that watch never coming off!
He even kinda looks like Tony Hawk...
Oh yea he broke the watch band. I'm kinda hoping he forgets about it.
It's the little things. Asa's class is doing a State Fair. I was looking at his display for Illinois and the first thing I noticed was this.
That lead to a conversation with another dad who just so happens to have a abandoned parts car the same model that I'm buying Saturday. Sure am glad the ex and I had to much to drink that night almost 10 years ago.

MAN ! You sure do have a great boy !
Biggest regret is that I never got to have any children and I really do think that I'd have made a terrific Father. Wife didn't want them and didn't drink either, so . . .
It's not terribly dissimilar-looking to an actual 930...
So, Asa landed you a 930 parts car?
In reply to Robbie:
I wish. Not letting the car out of the bag yet but it's cool. Just not 930 cool.
