I have a cam seal on my subaru svx motor that is being extremely stubborn.

I'm at the point where I am afraid that my next steps will mar the sealing surface.

Does anyone have any tricks? It's recessed, so it's really difficult to fit a small screw driver under it and pry up. This is how I normally do it.

What about unbolting the cam cap it sits in?

Also, I think that screwing a drywall screw into the seal and using that to pull it out is a commonly-accepted solution.

Im going to give the drywall screws a go.

I have to replace the valve cover seals so perhaps I'll give that a try first.

Thanks all
