... and it is GOOD! on a slightly wet track, I was stunned at the longitudinal grip of the OE tires. deceleration could be described as "face melting." lateral grip was pretty impressive as well, there's plenty of poke from the turbo I6, and the 6-speed manual is as good as you'd expect it to be. sometimes i love my life.
I'm jealous
Now I want one.
So we are not talking about this M1?

I drove the 1M that the PO of my M3 bought to replace it, and it was as you described. Plenty of power, superb handling, great brakes. Basically a narrow-body M3 with a turbo 6 instead of a screamer V8.
1M or M1? I'd rather have a ride/drive in the M1.
BTW, why is it that M1 are either red or white?
that shot actually makes the 1er look good

The hatch 1 series looks fine, it's the silly notch back coupe that looks dumb. Guess which is the shape we get here?
Yes, yes the 1 Series M is an awesome car. It is probably my favorite BMW of all time. (and I'm not crazy about the way it looks)

Its funny because the normal base NA 1 series gets higher grade markings than a R3 Mazfa rx8.
I would say thats very impressive for a base model sport!
A 1M has to be a little beast!

What are these "grade markings" of which you speak?

Just google-imaged that... your right, 1-series hatch looks really nice... sort of a modernized Z3 M Coupe.

It was in a Car and Driver magazine. They said that the BMW was a better all-around car, if you never planned on tracking or anything. They were also operating under the assumption that the R3 would cost you MSRP.

That 1M hatch is hideous, but I do like the coupe.
