Is there a reason you wouldn't just use the M3?

Because Swede? Also, the higher ground clearance of a 240 seems better suited to such use. Pretty cool, regardless.

I think the S52 into a 240 wagon would keep me entertained a LONG time

In reply to Ian F:
Yeah, higher ground clearance in the 240, but such a better chassis in the E3* M3. But, if you got your hands on a totalled M3 and had a 240 laying around....yeah it'd be a blast.

When someone is fast is an M3, you can just write it off to that person being a rich douchebag. But when someone is just as fast in an old Volvo, you have to simply write it off as that person being awesome.

Ok, you have a point there. The 'sleeper effect' is HUGE in my book.

If you want a fast volvo that can keep it going straight ahead, I suggest this one:

there are more vids of it racing various other exotics and whipping them....on some old cold war airfield. We need some of those as well as some 750hp Volvos (the car in that vid has a Volvo 2.5 T6 engine and runs e85)

Define "better." Because if we're talking about abusive surfaces, give me a RWD Volvo chassis every day of the week. Sure, the M3 chassis may be better for a while... until it rips itself apart.

Glad to see Im not the only one who had an issue with the 'better' comment.

200 lbs lighter? Sure.

So, people with "nicer" cars are douchebags. Cool. I'd prefer to be a douchebag based on my own merits, and not by my "expensive" high-rolling car.

So someone with an S52 Equipped M3 (1996-2000) is "rich"?

Damn! I must be a fatcat cause my car is worth nearly $10K. Woo Hoo! Sorry, gotta jump into my helicopter... the yacht is leaving for the Bahamas in a few minutes and I'd hate to miss the caviar and Cristal before-dinner snack.

Cool Volvo, and I see where you are coming from, but a reassessment of the amount of wealth the typical E36 M3 owner has may be in order.
