Somehow, Porsche engineers have a better understanding of what gear I need to be in from Germany than I do from the driver's seat.

That sums up my experience driving the GT3 also.

Very nice car. If you are going to get an automatic car, that is an excellent choice.

That's a beauty!

Did you decide to sell or trade your last Cayman?

The town is chip sealing my road as we speak. Looks like this car won't be leaving the garage for a few weeks.

No sympathy expected...

I knew some sort of DCT/PDK/MCAT/ACT/SAT thing would be involved.

Looks damned good.

I test drove this on Saturday.

It was a manual base Cayman in the same (I think) dark blue. The only thing I preferred about my MSM after the test drive was the shifter. I may need to find an S to try out.

Enjoy the ride.

That just means you have a few weeks to practice saying Doppelkupplungsgetriebe.

22 years ago i believed the only reason for a two pedal car was if you had lost a limb. Now i may never purchase a three pedal car again.

Not a PDK but my $5k 99 auto Boxster is awesome and has been a flying spaghetti monster send with my bad back over the last month. Just had surgery today so no driving anything for the next six weeks though.

A guy at work just purchased a six month old (ex demo) 981 base Cayman with PDK in the same color as the OP and loves it too.

I have been waiting on the 911 base with PDK to drop. I have 2 kids and the +2 works for me even with me being tall it becomes a +1.

Wife can stay home...

I go to the Wal-Mart and Costco up by exit 55 every other Saturday, it's only about 14 miles from where I live and the gallon and half of gas it costs is soo much cheaper.

Three downshifts sound like pom, pom, pom, and happen as fast as it takes you to read that.

Great car and color.

I spent some time in a 991 PDK and came away thoroughly impressed. It shifted before I even released the paddle shifter. So fast. The Thump in the exhaust as the engine immediately grabs the next gear at a different rpm is a wonderful new sound that took some getting used to. Sorta like the flat shift at track.

Congratulations Woody.

As one GRM’er said to me “I’m not surprised you like the Cayman so much, it’s a better 911 than a 911”. If not for my long commute and having two children that still need to be taken places, I’d be driving one now.

I’m looking forward to treating myself to one in the not too distant future…I’m very pleased that the current version is so optimal for me as even if Porsche messes up the design going forward, I can just save some money and buy a nicely cared for current version in a few years when I’m ready.

Oh, and, thanks for not driving “MY CAR” on that freshly chip sealed road.
