I'm pretty sure I drove a Mazda 3 diesel at the 2013 24hrs of Daytona on the Mazda autocross course, behind the backstretch grandstands.

Reading back through this thread...first, I said I'd seriously shop the Cruze if they offered it as a wagon...then another poster commented they wouldn't need to look any further if the Cruze were a hatch...finally, one guy said if the Cruze were offered in a 2 door it'd be perfect.
Hello? Chevrolet? Free market research, right here! WE DON'T WANT A COMPACT 4 DOOR SEDAN! QUIT TRYING TO SELL THEM TO US!
Go look at a sonic hatch if you want a cruze hatch. They honestly are not much smaller and cost a few k less. I was excited about the diesel cruze until I found out its pretty loaded options wise.
I ended up with an elantra. The new look 3 is just to damn cramped inside. The center console takes up 12" of width and the rear seat has very little legroom which made forward facing car seats a kick fest for the kids.
The cruze eco was my second choice but honestly it was nearly the same price as a volt by the time you took every rebate.
The cruze is more tempting, but why is it so damn heavy? Even making ~166whp, its not exactly a fast car. Seems like its cheaper to make that much power in a Kia Forte, which has the added bonus of weighing 350lbs less.
Now, if I could snag a Cruze motor on the cheap and stuff it in a Saturn Coupe... that would be fun :)

if only it were that easy … sigh

They actually COME with that much power. 1.6T
Just bought a 2014 Cruze LT 1.4t 6 speed last weekend. I've been looking into the tunes but worry about the warranty. First time I've had to concern myself with one of those.
It came down to this and the elantra. Running 25,000 or so per year and they show similar mileage ratings. I like the looks of the elantra better but the ride and interior of the cruze a little better. Chevy ended up offering a better deal so I went with the cruze.
didn't realize the LT could be had with the 1.4T …
a friend of mine bought a Eco sp last yr and they've never gotten less than mid 40's and have hit low 50's on the highway
The Cruze Eco looks good on paper but i'd be first in line if they had a wagon version. I'd be happy even with a regular gas engine one. I think it is one of the better looking smaller sedans out there. I guess I could suffice with a roof rack and a trailer hitch if I needed to haul crap.
More car manufacturers need to offer wagons. I guess the popularity of the SUV killed off the wagon for a while, but I really hope they make a comeback.
They were willing to deal. Paid quite a bit less than the truecar price.
It is interesting so far. It wants you to shift to 6th right before 40mph dropping you down to 1300ish rpm. Peak tq is under 2000 rpm.
