Not that you guys are drag racers, but I thought you'd all get a kick of out of this since it's $2008 and $2009 Challenger. She took a beating today and ran a few new personal bests in the process. It's essentially the same car as what was at the Challenge (but working right!). I put a different wastegate/downpipe on it, it has an exhaust and muffler, a new clutch and there's a trans with an LSD in it.
Ran a new no nitrous best of 10.98 @ 129.99. No spray...but a ton of boost.

Later, with a 50 shot and a bit of hook left in the track, went 10.57 @ 135.8. A new nitrous best.

Then after some tuning (primarily getting the boost under control and adding some more fuel, still with a 50 shot, I ran a 10.70 @ 137.06!!! New best trap speed!
I can not freaking believe how much this motor has taken so far!
I loves me some quick Turbo Dodge!
How much razzing did you get at the track for dragging just a FWD?
I'd always heard those engines could take the beating. Nice!

The cool thing was that I was at a track rental day with a Mustang club, so I was beating Mustangs most of the day, which I tend to enjoy doing.
Kidding aside, I've raced with these guys before and they are a cool bunch, but it was nice to hear how many of them actually liked the car. It may have been from pure shock value, but from what the turbo dodge guys who were in the stands told me, it was quite a crowd pleaser.
Sweet Pat. I think most folks are happy to see a surprise like that even if they are getting beaten by it. When I was prepping for the 04 chalenge I took my GLH to the strip. It was also a track rental day (Roush, I worked for them at the time) and seeing me beat up on Roush Mustangs was pretty freaking cool, though like you said, they were all fine with it and didn't give me any crap.
But think of it this way. If you beat them you can brag "man, I beat this built up Mustang at the track today. He had me up till the 8th, but when boost came on I walked by him, it was soooo sweet!" Now on the other hand, the Mustang guy can't brag about beating a 4 cylinder, 4 door Dodge can he
Still within a challenge budget???
Way to go regardless. Awesome performance.

Right now, no. The LSD, clutch and wastegate/downpipe take me over. I could put the home made wastegate/downpipe set up back on it without loosing any performance though. I took it off since I was concerned about it cracking, and I want to use it again on the next challenge car. The LSD probably doesn't get me much, if anything drag racing. The open diff trans that was in the car for the Challenge is on the garage floor....I cut better short times with that trans than I did with the LSD trans yesterday, although the track was not prepped well at all yesterday. I probably could cobble together a clutch for low bucks, but I wouldn't think it would hold very long.
The short answer is no, but I don't think putting it back would slow me down. It probably wouldn't hold up long term though.
In reply to Pat:
You know that's the only non-Nelson challenge car to go 10.50's, don't you?

Maybe true, and that's pretty cool, but I'm getting the car to work just a few months too late!
BTW, I was in College Park today. Took the kids to the College Park Aviation Musuem, then a healthy lunch at McDonalds on Rt. 1.

I really enjoyed watching those videos, congrats on some impressive runs.
I used to hang out at cecil county with the Delaware Valley Shelby Dodge guys and that just brought back all kinds of good memories. I always wanted a shadow, perhaps now more then ever...

Good job Pat!!!
My turbo dodge challenge car has only gotten slower since last year
Keep the car in one piece so you and Mr Nelson can go heads-up against each other at the next Challenge.

Eh, I'm not so sure I want to bring it back. I ran it there twice, came in 5th and 2nd. That's a pretty good run. I'm not so sure how interested anyone would be in seeing it a third time.
That being said, I do wish I had sorted it out a bit more before bringing it down, particuarly last year. Live and learn.
