Thanks to the Ecoboost Challenge and ST Academy tour event in Indianapolis today, I have an insatiable lust for one now. I don't know if I've ever seen a car so willing to be bent by my will before and do amazing things.

It was also great to have a fellow GRM'r in my run group. A shoutout goes to Rich Hughes for being a bit more consistent and a great guy to pass the time with.

Needless to say, once I'm completely out of debt again(already nearing that milestone again).....I will own an envy green Fiesta ST built to G-Street rules. I want to dominate a local class again

I've wanted to drive one since I first saw it at the Detroit auto show. I was hoping my Dad would consider one as a replacement for his SVT Focus but that seems unlikely. He's been looking at Nissans and talking about what a good car the Versa is...

Sounds like my Dad.. Most things based on his opinion are very questionable.

The Versa Note is a great car in several ways, but WHY would anyone who cared about that buy an SVT focus?

From an SVT Focus to a Versa? I think your dad was abducted by aliens.

To be fair, he plans to keep the SVT until it dies. On the Fiesta ST topic, anyone driven one who can comment on the pedal placement? Is it anything like the SVT Focus? The pedal placement in the Focus is, to me, annoying at best.

Mine is a great car and it's tons of fun, but the lap times aren't as good as first impressions would make you expect. They don't seem to be particularly successful in autocross either. The dynamics don't work as well with sticky tires as they do with the mediocre stock ones either.

No complaints about pedal placement in mine.

In the last couple months, it seems like I see them everywhere, and at least aesthetically, I'm kinda in love. I'd love to drive one in anger.

Also, the Versa might be the biggest pile of E36 M3 I've ever driven in my entire life. I love small cars, but had a rental that was absolutely terrifying at hwy speeds.

Also also: Speaking of rentals, I just spent the weekend with a C63 AMG, and am in berkeleying love.

I've test driven one (without any tire smoke) and ridden in one at an autocross. The pedal placement is fine. I love the Recaros. Otherwise, the interior is just OK. Actually, the hatch looks surprisingly useful. The driving dynamics are really good at 6/10ths. That's about my limit on the street anyway. The car felt front heavy (because it is), but I may be unfairly comparing it to my Miata. From what I could tell as an autocross passenger, it felt very smooth and composed. I suspect keeping the front end from washing out will be the main issue.

I'm still trying to decide whether to keep the Miata or order a 2015 Fiesta ST.

In reply to JoeTR6:

I didn't really have problems with the front end washing out......as I was actually sliding it around nicely. With the new street class rules, dropping to 16's with 205/45 rubber would probably be pretty good. I did notice a bit of lag if you let it dump boost though....which is why my fastest run I didn't let it.

I attended the event at Lucas oil. Was in the first hour's group. I've never done any race, or time thing before. Never done a drive around cones thing. I went out my first lap apprehensive, but tried to give it all I could. Tried to improve on second and balance fast vs braking on third. Long story short… I had the fastest lap when I stepped out. Was put into the head-to-head against a guy who later beat me by a bit. He went first and got a penalty. I ended up beating him. I had no idea they intended to race and give away prizes. Nice to get a $300 GoPro3 Silver Edition for my test drive! Second best drive of the year, aside from seat time in an Aventador Roadster in March.

I drove one at an event they had at Circuit of The Americas. It was only part of the track and the kept the speeds down but it felt like a fun little car. I wouldn't call it lust for the car but it did remind me a lot of my 89 Dodge Colt Turbo which is not a surprise since they are very similar.

How am I always missing CoTA events like this??

I was in the Drivers briefing when you were doing the head to head challenge, congrats. I screwed up on my head to head to head run(we had 3 in that next hour), and I still nearly got second. Posted the blistering 36.170 lap to get into it though.

I went and test drive one of these today. First I drove a base model SE with a 5spd...... All I can say is, Ford pull your head out of your ass with the gutless turd. And when did 3k plus rpm become exceptable to drive 70mph? You fail.

Now the ST is what the base model should be. Except for that wet fart turbo noise......

Time to find one I like now....
