The air filter housing attached to the air box of the Kawasaki KZ400 I'm building is missing. It's made of unobtainium apparently. So I've seen a few home brewed versions and will try to make my own. I need a plastic or metal box with the dimension of 2.5" tall, 5" wide, and 5-6 inches long. Thoughts as to where I could find such a thing?

Part number 11012 is the part I need to replicate in the image. At one point I found someone in eBay who 3d printed it but can't find anymore.

Since I’ll be in the market for almost the exact same thing, I’ll be looking around and post if I find anything

Enclosures for electronics.  Look at Newark, Mouser, DigiKey, etc.  Some will even be sealed.

Edit: I missed that last sentence in your post. I was under the impression you wanted a custom air box. Still, I’ll look into what you need

Try the Container Store, they sell a bunch of plastic boxes with lids that snap on.

Based on your dimensions, Tupperware container #499-8 might be a good starting point.

the opening at the wide end is 2.75” x 5.25”. The narrow end is 1.875 x 4.5”

Something like this might be close in size?

I had a small box once, but the life support system it was attached to was defective, I tore up the bill of sale.

Made a few good projects with some knockoff Pelican cases from Amazon - be warned - the clear ones are brittle and the opaque ones are flexy.  But in theory a guy could replace the lid with a K&N or similar panel filter.

It sounds like you need a dry box or ammo crate.

If you don't mind a bit of aluminum fabrication, this seems like a pretty good starting point:

How about a pair of Uni filters instead?  No box.  No problem.

All great ideas. The sox and individual snorkels mean lots of no fun finding the right jetting. Would rather keep things close to stock that way. Gonna check out your suggestions. I might just make from thin sheet steel. Will hit up Home Depot and Bed Bath and Beyond this weekend. No Container store nearby.

Harbor freight sell pelican knock off cases with the name Apache. I'm not sure of the sizes but they are built plenty strong. Although they would be a little on the heavy size. They are cheap enough that I bought one to cannibalize for a project and was impressed.

Lego. Seriously I use it to make custom boxes for electronics. Make it the shape you want, test fit everything, then glue it together to make it permanent. Drill holes in it and if you mess up just replace a few bricks. You can build virtually anything with them. Have a look here Lego store where you can choose individual pieces. You can even choose your color in most cases. If not just spray paint it when you are done.
