i already have a (borrowed) WB display, but it did not come with a sensor.  so i need a WBO2 sensor.  what is the go-to?

It will very much depend on the type of display that's used. Common ones are Bosch LSU 4.2 and 4.9 and the connectors are pretty distinct. Small chance if it's fancy it uses the NGK sensor.

Varying different PN's for the 4.2 and 4.9 will give you different length pigtail connectors, too.

Last I checked Bosch 4.9 was the best choice, it's very accurate and easy to source replacements. If you have to switch the connector, don't solder it, only crimp or twist & tape - the sensor uses the wire as an atmospheric O2 reference tube!

Here's what I borrowed. It came with both cables.

At one time the VW Bosch sensor was $30 and came with like a 3' pigtail.

AEM normally uses the 4.9 sensor same as the TermX. Per Denbob himself.

I think Ecoboost F150 upstream O2 and 2009ish Dodge Cummins truck had an O2 that was a wideband too if you wanted some Rockauto search terms.

Depending on the age of the setup I think the AEM can be LSU4.2 or LSU4.9. Unfortunately the connectors looks VERY similar. It's hard to tell from the picture but does your connector look like:

LSU4.2: https://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/product_info.php/products_id/732?osCsid=7nftsagofiqfk7k4i1t65jg9q6

or LSU4.9: https://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/product_info.php/products_id/2080?osCsid=7nftsagofiqfk7k4i1t65jg9q6?

I'm leaning toward LSU4.9.

Looks like the 4.9 based on the proportions in the pic.

I think 4.2 is just an oval connector with the 4.9 being still an oval but has a "base" or "cat ears" depending how you look at it.

To piggyback off this, if that's okay, what's the go to wideband kit at moment for the money?

AEM X Series link

Some people really like Innovate kits for some reason, they always burn sensors out quick in my experience.

I seem to recall that they kill sensors from excessive heater use.

That's what I thought too, they were a little aggressive and crude on the heater strategy.

There wasn't a feedback on sensor temp. So more times than not, the heater was on full blast all the time.

That would help explain my sensor failure...

For the more modern ones, there should be.

I recently installed the AEM X kit with guage like the OP's pic and Bosch 4.9 sensor.  Didn't last very long.  Died within a couple of weeks.  I figured because of E85 use, but it sounds like heater running might be the culprit.

I read RacetruckRon's post as the Innovate kit burns up the sensor.  Interesting that you had issues with the sensor in your AEM kit.

You'll need to log in to post.
