I am so stoked. Original owner house built in '49...The 94 year old lady who'd lived there just moved into a care facility (husband passed in '02 @ 90). The husband was a building contractor and the house has tons of clever touches and nifty period details. It's FULL of hidey holes, drawers, cabinets and myriad storage areas everywhere you look. It's 2200 ft^2, not including the finished basement, breezeway, or 2-car attached garage. The shop is 26x54 and has a furnace and large gable fan. The lot is 1/2 acre. I can't wait to move in!

SCORE you lucky devil.
How many Miatas will fit in that garage?

Nice! What goes in the shop?
I forgot to mention the knotty-pine den with fireplace, the bathroom in the shop, the pull-down stairs in the garage, the circle driveway, and...and...and... I just can't believe how perfect it is for my wife and daughter and I. I have to pinch myself!
What goes in the shop?
For now:
-3rd-gen Rx-7
-1st-gen MX6 turbo
-'87 626 Turbo
But I'd like to get something old, to match the house. It needs an old-timey car to park in the front garage, pointing outwards, next to the wife's Murano.

that is a wonderful setup. you can tackle any project you want in that space. If were you I would be building an aircraft in the shed...
Houses from that era just have this awesome aura about them, built by american hands with american stuff. There was this really awesome shop restoration in Car Craft a few issues ago, you should check it out.
Only a true gearhead would show that view of his new shop and house!

Sweet! Post more pics if you have them, I'd love to see some of the details of the house and shop.
You have every right to be excited about that!!
I am so jealous. Be sure and put some security in that shop if it doesn't already have it.
I too would be building an airplane in the shop.

Damn, that would be an ideal setup for me, too. Excellent score! Color me envious.

Detached shop with alley access! SWEET! You can sneak stuff in even when the wife is home!
Ah man. Looks like you found what I consider to be my dream house. Very jealous.

Sounds like you got a helluva deal on a shop with a nice house thrown in for good measure!
Looks like what I've been looking for.

For me: too much house, not enough shop!

That's not a "shed"! That's a storage building!
Nice score, I'm totally jealous. Does the storage building have a lift, machine shop too?
Where is it? Nothing specific, just the nearest large city; otherwise you'll have garage pests you can't get rid of.

Damn. I probably have that much garage space, but I have to share it with roommates :(
Congrats!
I forgot about this thread, sorry.

914Driver asked where it was. That's the semi-bad part. It's in a nice little town, but the town happens to be in Illinois. No concealed carry, licensing a car costs about $200, and plates are $100 every year. I am across the river from St. Louis, but NOT in E. St. Louis...I'm much much further east, thankfully (E. of Belleville).
No lift or machine shop...Working on it...
