If we're talking movie mustangs the original and best is the one from Bullit. Nothing will ever come close to the imprint that car left on every car guy the first time they saw that movie.

If we're talking real life, well they all suck.

That was cool for a mustang. locally here a car club in Indian Trail just got kicked out of there second place in a few weeks because of a .... you guessed it a mustang driving douche monkey.

What is it about those cars that makes some of their owners turn into total toolbags

In reply to ryanty22:

Have you ever owned a Mustang? Why do you not like them?

They can be intoxicating. My blue Mark VII is little more than a long wheelbase Mustang at this point and it puts a dumb grin on my face every time I drive it.

Crude, poorly built and they have terrible manners in the turns but they are an absolute blast to drive!

They can be fun, My mother had a 86 mkVII that my dad played with a little bit. and best friend had a mustang for a while. I just wonder what it is about those cars that they have a much higher rate of making their owners into morons. Cant be just the redneck aspect of it.

FTFY

Honestly, the redneck aspect of it is the only reason why I haven't sampled a Moustang yet. Yeah, I'm a wine sipping snob, and I'm confortable with that.

The same can be said for a lot of makes and models...Civics/IROCS/Supras/Vipers/Vettes...etc.

You guys talking about the redneck aspect are looking at it all wrong. Maybe you should consider the Shelby aspect.

Or the Saleen aspect.

I've always thought about picking up a SVO. I really think they were very unique Mustangs. Unfortunately I'd have to wean myself off British cars first to make room in the garage.

Dont feel like getting sued...

Hey, I cut my teeth on Mustangs, still have mine but drive a miata while its in storage.

its a combination of redneck 'merica attitude and being one of the cheapest common avenues to horsepower.

Hell, remember civics back around the time the Fast and the furious movies were coming out?

But seriously, dont blame the cars for the shiny happy people who own them.

As far as "getting" mustangs... There is something fun about harnessing a bunch of power in a chassis that isnt the best thing ever made. It does take some effort to wrangle them around corners.

What you need to consider is that a mustang is the antithesis to something like a miata. A miata is a scalpel, a mustang is a berkin' HAMMER. The power level and the chassis make it something you have to wrangle. There is a lot of fun in this.

Its just the people to begin with and the fact that the power level makes them easy to hoon.
