Did you mention your winter driving plans? Do you have another vehicle for snow? I’m NOT warning you in any way, I personally have driven many New England winters with rwd/manual.

Rustproofing and a set of X-ice Xi2s! I did last winter in the Rockies in an old Crown Vic with a set of crappy Goodyear winters and it was great, and I did some winter driving in the C1500 with the insane rear gears that had it doing 3200 RPM at 70 MPH and that was pretty okay. I firmly believe that adequate preparation and technique will get most people through 98% of winter driving.

Thanks for the update. I've had one of these on my short list for a while. I've read that some of them have problems with high oil consumption. What have you found with yours?

Nothing too drastic. Check the oil every time you fill up, add as necessary. I've used about a quart over the last 3000km which is perfectly acceptable in my eyes.

A wise man once told me that you can add a LOT of oil before an engine rebuild is cost effective.

Hey, GBM: Regarding the seats, check out the ones in the G coupes.  I tried them in the showroom when my sister was getting her Q35, and I was very impressed.  How they work on the road, and how they stand up over time, I have no idea... but at least you know they would fit.

My buddy got a G 35 sedan when they first came out.  That is a whole lot of car. Plenty fast and composed for a good sized sedan.

The coupe seats are awesome, the hard part is finding a matching black pair in good shape for a fair price.

TBH, I'm surprised how few people check their oil these days. Maybe it's just because my first two cars had *ahem* "well-broken in" SBCs but I have a habit of checking at pretty much every fill-up.

I always figure oil should be checked weekly on pretty much any car.  Not because I necessarily expect the level to have changed, but mostly so that I'll notice if something changes and it does start going through oil suddenly.
