I hear about a lot of 911 projects but they are not at project prices...
And even with project pricing they're crazy to build. Just before covid I was introduced to a friend's neighbor who had a '76 930 that had been in the garage for 15-20 years after it stopped running. We dug through the stuff piled around it - body was clean, interior was a moldfest because the windows had been left up, and there were obvious signs of turbo hotrodding which I was pretty sure had caused said stop-running. I figured at least $75k to get it right and offered $20k. "Nope, I know what I have" but we parted friends. Fast forward a few years and the owner passed away. I spoke with his widow a couple of times to guide her to dissuade their daughter from trying to get it running and driving and find a good buyer.
My Porsche mechanic ended up buying it. In the end it was a labor of love even at wholesale: I don't know the buy-in, but when I mentioned I'd figured $75k to bring it back he gave a rueful smile and said it was well past that before the reassembly stage.
tl;dr I'm grateful to have a 911, cause I'd never be willing to spend what the market asks anymore

Very, very, rare color in as close to new as you can get. Crazy price, but if one is going to go for all the money, that's the one.

And if you missed it, fear not. Chances are good it'll be back on BAT inside a year with 100 more miles on it. The recidivism on BAT is shocking
I love to hate on the air cooled 911, but secretly want one.
The backseat (for kiddo), and beautiful design make the WAF (wife approval factor) remarkably high.
For car guys I think it's the equivalent of a Rolex; even non-collectors know the brand.

Sadly a Mk4 Supra Turbo is far more expensive than $40-60k now. 5 years ago when I got my 996 Turbo a decent Supra Turbo was $60k, now they're closer to $100k, or more.
