I thin I found my old car (mr2 content)

I found an mr2 on craigslist that looks suspiciously like my old 88 sc. Red with flat black top no decals otherwise. Guy said it was an 85. Other than the scoop on the side and wheels how can you tell the year? He only has pictures of the drivers side and aftermarket wheels so I'm not sure. I sold it to some ricer and I know he put one of those Tom's scoops on it and this one has it as well.

If its my old car I'm buying it. If its not I might buy it anyway. Seller isn't getting back to me now either...

The supercharged ones only had T-top, IIRC. That's not to say all T-tops were SC'ed....

Not sure about that but I do know that my sc had t tops. The one on craigslist looks like it has t tops. I can't figure out how to link it with my phone but if anyone cares to look its the only mr2 on Sioux Falls craigslist.

I thought SC cars were only available in 87/88

Only 87 88 were sc. I just can't imagine too many mk1 in this color combo in Sioux Falls, hoping it was my old car. I did some googling and black bumpers point to it being an 85, also I think the antenna would be on the trunk on a newer version. It doesn't look that nice so I should probably pass.

All SC's had t-tops.
Any car that got t-tops had the antenna moved to the trunk.

Antenna shown on a pillar proves this is not a factory SC car. At least i think that is an antenna. The picture is blurry, hard to tell.

Shown above, the true '85 would have black centered bumpers. Clearly the car in question has had paint applied but it is the smoother newer design (could have had front damage.)
The full side spoiler would not have been on a real '85 but was common to add on.

He said I could see it after 5... The fiance will probably chop my balls off if I buy it.

I can't remember but I don't think I painted the spoiler black but I know the mirrors were red. I know the ricer that bought it added that scoop thing on the back that this one has. I think this one has to be an 85 and not my old car. I don't think I should buy it unless its my old one. You guys think its worth a grand?

Dammit the side marker looks like an 88.. Trim in front of the head light looks black.. Talk me down

Okay...don't buy it. I've grown rather attached to my balls....reason enough.

Well, just cause you're fond of yours doesn't mean he shouldn't chop his off.

Though I personally wouldn't buy a previous car of mine back. I'd hate seeing what had been done to it. Especially if after raging about some particularly stupid thing the DPO did I was to realize it was done by the previous DPO, me.

SC cars are 88 and 89 in the USA...

the one thing the the poor CL photo does seem to show is the side aero of the later style....

84-86 tail lights bodies are smaller and were available in slick top or sunroof only, the 87-89 has wider tail lights and available with the slicktop or T bar roof, also 87-89 has the sc available which had the raised engine lid to clear the intercooler.

I still have my balls, I decided to not even look at it. He told me that it has a sunroof and so that confirms that it was not my old one. Although after digging up this post it does make me want to check it out, it just doesn't look like it's that clean... Better just stay strong and say no!
