I can get an LM4 for about $650 complete with motor control computer and wiring harness and all accessories. It has about 75K on it it. It is from an SSR. I am not sure at the moment if this is important. I have been told that these had a little more HP. (Internet rumor I read some place that I think may be BS.

Now the crazy part. I have absolutely nothing to put it in at the moment but I am just thinking that it is something I need to have on the shelf. If nothing else I am still on the hunt for a 951 roller.

Am I nuts?

I just dont see these as getting any cheaper or more available than they are now. LM7's will be around for many years to come but these have the better heads and being all aluminum make for a really great package.

I am seriously thinking GRM challenge here if I could get a 951 roller for say 1,500.(I possibly have a source for this as well) I think I could scrounge together enough and sell enough to make it work.

But that is the down the road plan for now am I nuts to get this motor with absolutely nothing to put it in?

I am leaning towards "Yes" answer I see no down side and it is a great motor to put in a whole host of other toys even if my 951 dream does not come around.

It would be like having a pet rock. Just that it would be a V8 all aluminum pet rock.

How do you get it running without the body control module? Or are there workarounds for that nowadays?

MSD, MS, and others have BCM workarounds.

Get it! I got my AMC 401 over 5 years ago and am just now getting around to sticking it in something.

I have been thinking about this some and I was wondering if a LM would fit in an RX8. I think this would be a great car. Kind of 4 doors with 400hp/400 fp. In a car that actually can Handel. I am getting all excited just thinking about it!!! I am sure it would mess up the handling a bit just due t tech weigh and not being able to get it as low in the body as the stock motor is but the added V8 goodness would make up for that.

I still want to do the 951 project. And rollers seem to be much cheaper but 4 seats that can Handel is so much more practical.

Ok I have to get that motor!!!! I might as well clean out a corner in the tomorow!!!

Now I am very interested in what it would take to get it running. I would like to maintain the stock EFI. Can I make it work with the stock engine ECU only or would I need the entire wiring harness from a similar car / truck. I assume that getting the harness or at least the plugs / cut offs would make splicing it in to another cars electrical system much easier.

I have two Volvo Turbo motors in my garage. They don't eat much, don't poop on the floor, and like a good pat on the head now and then. One day, I will be glad I have them. Get the motor.

That's a hell of a deal. Snap it up and find something to drop it in later.

MS as in Megasquirt? As in open-source? As in, have they hacked other manufacturers' BCMs as well and maybe we can do Renesis swaps in RX-7s without having to go standalone?
