....to Mazda!

I have always been pretty pro-Nissan, probably from the mass amounts of GT5 I used to play (R34 skylines) but after reading alot on here, I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more zoom zoom!

Reading about rotaries, the FT2, and the general consensus of the miata, I think I'm beginning to sway towards the Mazda way, and it's all you guy's fault.

Now I'm off to craigslist!

It's awful.

I always had Toyotas.

Then i bought the Escort GT about... 2.5 years ago. Since then, i've gotten a 1990 MX6 GT, a 1992 MX3 GS, and just this past week, a 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata.

Be careful. That E36 M3 is infectious.

Join our GT5 league, by the way!

Oh, and further warning... if you buy a Miata, you WILL end up with a Jeep Cherokee shortly after.

And vice versa. The two just go together.

Mazdas you say? Who owns Mazdas?

Cause you know, I don't have a turbo mx6 (your f2t) OR a Mazdaspeed3 in my driveway.... and ya know, I haven't indfluenced like a dozen Speed3/Miata sales in my area.... and i'm TOTALLY not on the lookout for an NA miata....

Meeting the Mazda motorsports guy at the Mitty paddock tour did a pretty good job of convincing me I need one at some point (thanks again to David Wallens for taking time out to host the tour). I have to say I liked the impressions that I got about the way the company is run and what they're priorities are (at least from what I heard that day). Compared to their competition, they're a pretty small fish, making a pretty large splash imho.

Sports cars aside, bonus points are awarded for any company making a 5sp "minivan" with an athletic suspension. To all other companies - that's how you parts-bin engineer something.

Just like i "forced" you to buy that MX6, i'm going to "force" you to buy an NB instead.

I don't have a strong desire to have another, that's for sure.

I want an NA to hack up and do stupid things to.... but i was horribly underwhelmed by the car compared to the NB.

Different strokes and all that. If i was looking for a race car, or something to hack up and do stupid things to, i'd be looking for an NA more than likely.

I wanted a nice car.

I wasn't really talking about that anyways... more speaking to the fact that i went from NO mazdas, to 4 mazdas in 2 years. I've already got a somewhat recent thread up where we can argue about which generation of Miata is best if you'd like.

I wasn't arguing about which is better... the NB is. No argument.

Just that its not that addictive. I had my Mazda and don't want another. Especially if its as problematic as the one I had. I'd consider one, but not high up on my list, that's for sure.

Oh gotcha! My apologies.

I can't consider my NB real addictive just yet.... since it's not here yet.

But the others.... kindof? It's hard to explain. I don't think that they're "better" per se than the Toyotas that i'm used to, but there's just something about them.. a little more rewarding to drive maybe? (Likely partly because pushing my last remaining Toyota means i'm getting arrested for doing 70mph in a 30mph curvy country road.)

FYI: The new ones have the 6-spd and 2.5L from the Mazda3. My wife and I are seriously looking at the 5 as the family DD when it comes time to ditch the 1994 Exploder.

Exactly what I was referring to.

Pretty much the whole suspension from the 3 (and the aftermarket) swap over too from what I hear.

My pro-honda buddy has been converted to a mazda fan.

First with an 87' RX7 project car, and today he brought home a well kept 96' MX6 v6/5spd.

I've had ONE Mazduh....

1982 626. 4 dr, 5 spd, and gotten for just fixing the choke on a '82 Camaro. She wanted to pay in other ways, but I saw a RWD "small" car with a manual trans, wanted that more. I was 20 when this went down, BTW.

Edit to add:

I want another RWD 626. Only a 2 door this time.

My family has had 5 Mazdas in it: My dad's early 80's 626 and 98 MPV, and my 87 RX-7, 07 Mazdaspeed3, and 86 JDM Turbo-swapped RX-7. Aside from my dad's reluctance to maintain/repair his cars and the botched swap in the turbo FC, we've had no real problems with Mazdas. I've learned a lot about wrenching on the FCs and I lurrrve my Mazdaspeed3. It's a comfy daily driver, cargo-hauler, and ass-hauler all in one!

It helps to have good parts in your bin.

My first 2 cars were Italian (Fiat & Lancia respectively). My 3s hatch reminds me of the better qualities of both cars. My boss's Mazdaspeed Miata is what my 124 Spider dreamed of being. The RX-8 I drove still haunts me, and if something happened to my car, one would be high on my list. My commute is short enough that the atrocious gas mileage wouldn't kill me.

I've had other cars between the Italians and my current Mazda, including a Nissan 200sx SE-R, but none of those in between cars have been as enjoyable as the Mazdas I've driven.
