I forgot about that, but yeah that was really weird. Dude was just being a complete dick.
Wonder if he'll be back saying that this accident is all a rouse because it never existed in the first place?
Of all the things I am privy to on grm, this is one I missed, apparently.
Wearymicrobe, I am thankful you are OK. That's the most important thing.

Well we missed it together.
Glad you're ok man, sucks about the car.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around DDing an ACR Viper. Sounds just miserable with traffic. Something Lexus sounds like where I'd want to spend that time.

The guy was pretty belligerent. If I'm not mistaken that identity got banned. I still believe it was a regular that started using a new account to harass weary.

Ouch. Good luck with everything.
That sucks about the car man, glad to hear you made it out okay though.
This is my reason for not having the desire to modify street cars anymore. You invest all this time, money, and effort into a thing and inevitably it gets destroyed by someone making a stupid decision. You almost never get your money back out of them at that point. At least with my fix and flips I get the satisfaction of working on a car and bringing it back to factory standards, then I get to sell it before it gets destroyed.

First off totally fine in terms of health. It was a really low speed hit, she just hit me in exactly the wrong spots.
FYI about that guy. That was weird but not really uncommon. I get that sort of response a lot in real life as well. Its my age and well my appearance to be honest. I live in jeans and surf shirts. What is weird is the response after I posted photos. If I had family money I think they would be less weird about it as then it would be more normal and I would just be a straight up douche. They can accept that as its a bit more expected.
Edit:
I still use this photo every now and then.
Sorry to hear about the Viper, but I'm really glad that you're OK.

Did the other driver say that he/she did not see it? I recall that the Viper was bright, bright green.
Fistfull of cash and a $38k '99 GTS? link
$105k gated Gallardo? link
I spend too much time drooling over the F-chat classifieds...
Yummm... Gallardo. Or R8 v10. Love that engine!!!
6speedonline classifieds gets all my fantasy drooling. I know I'll never be able to afford 98% of the cars on that forum. But, I can look!
Aw man that's awful I think this is the same Viper I egged you on to buy way back when...

I was that one yes. I was on the fence about the color but man it was perfect when it showed up. Much better then the White and Red one that I was looking at near the same time.
Inspector found a ton more wrong in his report FYI supposed to get the final report tomorrow. Gal who hit me in her "deposition" said she made the mistake. Now its just paperwork and waiting.

That really sucks, but at least you weren't hurt.
Any idea on how much it would be to buy back yet or no?
Cause parting it out would likely get a decent chunk towards a replacement vehicle.

I don't have any info. I figure at least three weeks until they come up with a number then at least another 2 weeks to get it adjusted and accepted by both parties.

That is one of the few things I did miss on here and it was glorious. Watching someone get belted with the banhammer is great. I think the one where the guy was calling BS on patgizz's challenge budget was even better. "Just like you don't have to believe his budget, we don't have to listen to you. BANNED"

if it's low enough I say buy it back and part it out. When I had the idea of a resto mod 2 door New Yorker with a viper motor the engine alone was going for around 6k.
In reply to NickD:
The only issue is when people that have that power use it because they don't like the opinion of the other guy. That has killed a few places over the years. It's a slippery slope.

MC12? Only because I like your car choices...
Sorry to hear the news, but I'm glad you're OK. Hopefully the buyback is reasonable and you can make some $$$ parting it out.

Seriously thinking right now of just getting another classic and a DD at this point.
FYI Word traveled fast on the crash. A car dealer friend I know just picked up a 58 Corvette and he knew I was on the lookout for one a few years back. He keeps texting me photos and offering to buy drinks the next time we get together.
I have a ton of options which is what makes it hard. Most people need four doors and to carry kid seats or hit some sort of MPG or price point. I am all over the place and I have found that the more cars you have the more single purpose you can buy.
IE you have two cars. One for the street and say a track car. When you have 8 cars like I do you can go a little nuts and get things that are really out there that others avoid for sanity reasons. The basics are covered.

So... biturbo or lagonda?

What's your opinion on the sls amg? That's on my short list when I'm ready for my next big car.
I think you need to give Keith a call and get one of those LSX powered Miata's. See if they will stuff an LS9 in one of those.

I totally envy y'all. Your short list is my dream list
