So here are the results of the ETRSCCA's 1st rallycross of the year 6 of the top 10 were RWD with #2 being from SR. So what is all this about RWD rallycross being the slow class.
I wish i could have attended. The only SF car was a Classic mini which is awesome.
Rallycross is also the least equipment dependent of all the car related motorsports that you have the joy of participating in. Rallycross rules.
RWD is more fun to drive. Speed is secondary.
And as always, driver ability likely makes the biggest difference.
Driver ability and run order. Esp. if AWD cars are drying the course for the 2wd cars.
How the hell was the 2nd place car 44 seconds behind 1st?

Is a 10-15 minute course typical for rallycross?
In reply to STM317 :
Rally Cross times are cumulative

OOOOHHHHH. That makes more sense!
In reply to ProDarwin :
#1 is the fastest of the day every event and remember #2 is a stock ls1 Camaro vs a MA turbo Subaru.
The RWD cars likely ran in the same heat that was separate from the AWD cars. The course was probably faster on the RWD heat.
and miatas are tiny so they fit through cones better
Those are interesting results. I'm guessing that it was a course where balance was more important than traction. I love WRXs, but if you take away the AWD advantage, they're a nose-heavy pig.

This is a good point. If your just out there to have fun, you’ll likely do better, and since there’s no pressure, your raw talent shines. Just a guess.
In reply to ProDarwin :
lol....at DC, it's usually the RWD cars going first on soft days so the AWD cars don't rut the course as badly.
In reply to irish44j :
In theory, ruts, in the right spots, could be rode like Takumi Fujiwara. I say “go forth!” And taco that steel wheel.
In reply to Trackmouse :
Preaching to the choir. As a low-powered car, I love using the ruts to avoid scrubbing speed :)

I managed to not be slow, according to the 1st place championship trophy I managed in MR last year, driving a P71 and a Datsun 210. Spending 40+ years having fun in the dirt probably had something to do with that.
This was a hoot to drive.

Listen to the pre-run chatter.... "You won't have to steer!"
IIRC, we got the ruts deep enough that cars were bottoming out against the start hose.

Us "high powered" guys can use those ruts too, you know :)
In reply to Knurled. :
I didn't notice the "Are you ready Steve?" before.
Also, I did remember to put the oil cap back on.
top SR car and usually #2 fastest raw times at least from last years events
this car was Fastest car al every event last year and so far this year.

I've seen your lines. You're not using the same ruts that I am, lol.
