I like the volt but I'm very opposed to capacitive touch radio/hvac controls, so I have to boycott the 1G for that reason. 2G went to a standard layout you could operate upside down and blindfolded and its a huge improvement.

They seem to work better than the ones in the Cadillac XTS I had as a loaner. Those made me want to punch the dash. I figured out most of the stuff on the way home. The system isn't perfect but it's far from the worst that GM built.
Took the Bolt out for a spin yesterday and was really impressed. It's somehow even quieter than the Volt, there's no electric motor whine at all. And it is pretty zippy. Accidentally spun the tires hard from a 30mph roll and it wasn't even in Sport mode. The seats were supremely comfortable as well.

GM is having some severe issues with the front seats in the Bolt actually. I sat in one that was painfully uncomfortable at the auto show. I spoke with an owner and they said they tested out a bunch on the lot before finding one that was comfortable.
Apparently some of the front seats have insufficient padding on the bottom so you end up sitting on the plastic frame rather than the cushion.
Bad seats vs good seats.
I'll be watching used prices on them.

I hope they have all sorts of non-drivetrain related issues and get CHEAP. Nobody has completed a stage rally in a production EV yet, and nobody seems to want to give me a free one so I can try...

Must have been a good seat then, because I really liked them. The interior as a whole is pretty slick. Well, at least me and another tech thought so. Our dispatcher, she was less than impressed, as shown by the following conversation
Me: This interior is pretty sweet
Other Tech: Yeah. The heated rear seats sold me.
Dispatcher: No, it isn't. What is this stuff on the dashboard? It looks like wallpaper from my grandmother's house
Me: It's spaceship material
Dispatcher: No, it's wallpaper from my grandmother's bathroom
Me: Long pause What spaceship did your grandmother serve on?
Dispatcher: And what is up with the shifter? It looks like my vibrator
Other Tech: Stares at shifter, stares at her What the hell is your brand of vibrator called? Spitting Cobra?

Not a stage rally but this Leaf is interesting.

I think they run 14.9 in the 1/4. It would be funny if they were just riding a 93 mph speed limiter for the last 300 feet or something.
Is it time for me to get rid of my beater? At that price I don't think there is any way I could beat operating costs, and there is enough life left it in that I can stomach the potential battery issues down the road.

Just thought of something. Looking at EVs, fly and drive opportunities are much more limited, or will take a lot longer haha.
