Featuring 19 corners and three straights over a roughly 3.3-mile-long circuit, the 2022 Miami Grand Prix will be the first Formula 1 race to take place in the Sunshine State since 1959.

I'm not going to count on it until they've got a date and tickets are on sale. Vietnam was also announced and "on the calendar" and there's still a lot of grousing by the locals down there.
So, basically, it's like a really cool autocross course.

I'm in the same boat..............I'm always skeptical of these things.
Come on....Needs to be the old ceasar's place course. Is this where we say F1 has jumped the shark? Or was that Baku?
Well, At least murders are down 33% yoy so Miami Gardens isn't one of the most dangerous places in Florida anymore.
The comment about elevation changes was amusing. It's Florida. There are no elevation changes. Except for the buildings.

I assumed they were talking about the curb cuts getting in and out of the parking lot.
If anyone really screws up turns 11 or 14 or 16 they will end up on the Florida turnpike. They better have the sunpass attached to the cars...
There is an elementary school nearby too, that will make for difficult teaching during practices.

Here's the exact description of the "elevation changes" from the release. I agree, it's pretty comical to talk about elevation changes in the context of southern Florida:
The main elevation change can be found between Turns 13 and 16, with the track heading over an exit ramp and under various flyovers across uneven ground. For example, the Turn 14-15 chicane has an uphill approach, with a crest in the middle of the chicane and then drops down on exit.
The site we raced with the ChampCars in 2002 (Bayfront Park near downtown Miami) was not a bad location, but it would not be great for the F1 cars. They would not be able to stretch their legs and the concrete barriers make the car invisible to everyone at ground level.
Hopefully the site prep folks are coached about the GTP cars that ran on the streets in Miami in the 90'?. Need to weld those manhole covers down!

They were filming that the first year I was on the road. Friend of a friend... was part of the production team and set up their filming stuff in the pit box next to ours at the track in Chicago/Cicero, with the intent of getting some 'real' pit stop footage. We broke early and never really got a pitstop.
Supply enough cocaine and hookers and Bernie will come race at your place. It's amazing that it's taken them over 60 years to come back.
I'm still worried whiny neighbors will shut this down. Nothing scarier than a mildly inconvenienced Karen...
When are we getting the GRM experience tickets?
