Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company acquires Cooper Tire and Rubber Company for approximately $2.5 billion. The release mostly discusses the financial benefits of the acquisition, though does explain that Cooper can better distribute tires through Goodyear’s network of some 2500 stores.

Also of note is this text:

That is not good news.  Cooper has put out some amazing A/T tires recently, and still produces rally tires. Hopefully Goodyear just lets them continue on their own.

I've got Coopers on nearly every thing I own. I agree, their A/T tires are what I put on all of our service vans. Several guys live WAY out of town. Since they have those tires no one has called in because of bad roads. Maybe Goodyear will let them do what they do.
