Quick, which truck has won first place in Baja 500’s Unlimited V6 class for the past four years? If you guessed anything other than the Honda Ridgeline, you’re wrong.
[2021 Honda Ridgeline Sport AWD HPD review]
This past weekend at the 2021 Baja 500—the annual offroad race that takes place on the Baja California peninsula—Honda secured another victory with the Ridgeline, …

I didn't realize SCORE had a class for minivans missing a chunk of roof.
Interesting.
"It's not a truck.."
"It offends my dimming masculinity.."
I'm sorry for these ridgeline haters wives.. to live without knowing what an orgasm is.....
Badass. I test drove one and really liked it but I don't need one.
Is there any sort of performance aftermarket for the second generation Ridgelines? There's almost nothing available for the 1st gen. Lift kits, one extremely high priced strut model, that's about it .
And Caffeine - don't take it so seriously. R-lines are destined to being redheaded stepchildren. Whatever. Their loss.

Lol. Not impressed. It's a tube chassis. Anything can do that.
In reply to Vajingo :
Not only is it tube framed, it’s the only factory entry in a five horse race. Granted, a lot can go wrong at Baja, but...
Yeah I'm less impressed now that I google'd what the truck actually is. Tube frame desert truck, basically just the engine is Ridgeline based.
It's about as Honda as the NASCAR field is Ford and Chevy.
not impressed either.
I like my Ridgeline but like said, that truck shares next to nothing with a Ridgeline.
I'd be more impressed with a top 5 finish in Class 7F.
In reply to Toyman01 + Sized and :
They did run it in a stock frame class years ago with the boxy style ridgeline. I can't find much info on it beyond this old press release..
Anyways, i remeber people arguing about it not being a real truck back then.. So Here's my new ridgeline tag line.
"Honda Ridgeline.. Trolling insecure men since 2005"
Honda entered four-wheeled SCORE competition on the Baja peninsula in 2005, competing in the Stock Mini class with a Honda Ridgeline fielded by Clive Skilton and his California Race and Rally (CaRR) organization. Driver Gavin Skilton and the Ridgeline scored their first SCORE Baja 1000 class victory in 2008, while Gavin and co-driver Andy Grider claimed a second Stock Mini class win in the 2010 SCORE Baja 1000.

Stock mini class.. naturally aspirated.. stock frame.
In reply to Fueled by Caffeine :
It is mind-blowing how much hate they generate. Every truck that pulls up next to me at a red light just has to out-accelerate me. They can not resist. I don't remember getting that memo when I drove a Silverado.
The thought that someone would want to drive a truck that isn't quite as truckish as theirs is more than they can stand.

That truck did quite well, and the drivers were impressed, although they mentioned that it was a bit wider than what they were used to (presumably Tacos). Shame that they don't do something more relevant with the current one. And as I mentioned, maybe make some serious add-ons for it.

Ridgeline fans are happy about the new Maverick.
REAL truck buyers don't really care about others opinions, IMHO- a long time ago, I really thought it was insane to market a twin turbo DI v6 truck, thinking that the market required a V8 or nothing. The market showed me my error.
It's really hard to run Baja- I've seen some testing for it. It's pretty amazing that they have had such a good run at strong finishes.

I daily either a Ridgeline or a Boxster, and can attest to this. The Boxster wins the competition for being road-raged, though, because it's hated by everyone--those people who can't resist blowing off a sports car with their beaters and dailies, as well as people who drive sports cars and, Silverado-style, look down on it for being somehow not as hardcore as theirs.

In reply to Marjorie Suddard :
I'm sure that it's regional. In Cali both vehicles are accepted, and Boxters are invisible, like Prius' or Miatae.
Well, I am in Florida, and there's a LOT of regional madness here :D

Quoted again because yes. Everyone I know who has a Ridgeline totally loves it.
In reply to David S. Wallens :
I told the wife that our next vehicle should be one. And yes I'm the guy that made the comment about the tube chassis blah blah blah. The thing is, if you don't think of it as a truck in the literal sense, then it's totally fine. I like to think of it as a CRV with a bed and a lot more power. Which is exactly what I would want. I don't need 99% of what a big truck can do, and I certainly don't need 99% of that price tag
My comment was based on the original article cited, not a historical one. The vehicle in the article stated doesn't impress me because it's not a Honda anymore, just like the "ford" or "chevy" on the NASCAR grid isn't.
My dislike of the Ridgline is only because of ownership of our Odyssey. I have grown to really loath it. Seats are as comfortable as getting the 'turn and cough' from a doctor with ice cold hands. The cargo area (yes, it's a minivan and it doubles as a truck, just like every other minivan) is a crappy design. It's just about as loud as the Chrysler minivan it replaced (6 years older) and gets the same fuel economy while managing to have as much torque as a number 2 pencil rolling across a level desk.
It's been unreliable and was rusting within warranty. Honda reneged on the verbal we had to replace the lift gate after the repair failed to repair the rust properly. I've had at least as many problems with the Honda as the Chrysler, but at WAY less miles. Higher maintenance costs, higher repair costs, a-pillars the size of the Brooklyn Bridge, I could go on.
I'm not paying the honda tax again. It's not worth it.
I like the Ridgeline, but that ain't a Ridgeline in any way other than the sticker on the side lol....
On the other hand, Honda actually DID complete Southern Ohio Forest Rally in 2019 with a nearly-stock Passport (caged, wheels/tires, revalved shocks - still had the factory climate control and touchscreen)
