I don't know much about E30s and even less about their wiring, so looking for some help from the GRM gurus.
I'm hoping this white plug in the center is for the back up lights.
This plug is in the middle of the left front fender.
I'm assuming the array with the blue plug in the upper right is the stock headlight wiring. Not sure what the two black plugs in the lower left are, stock fog lights maybe?
I think this is the factory radiator fan wiring?
This isn't a plug but I'm curious what this box clipped to the fuse box is, I think it's oem but not sure what it's commonly used for.
Thanks for the help, it's appreciated.
The orange plug on the 2nd pic is disconnected on my car as well. I would not worry about it.
The small box next to the fuse box is factory. I have two wires coming out that join the main loom. My understanding is that this was for additional, maybe dealer installed fused power.
Blue ones are for headlights.
The fan one, looks like its the one that goes on the fan resistor, but not sure.
The connector by the shifter is sitting next to the shifter connected to a white plug and it goes to the transmission area. Nit sure where.
1) No. I don't think so... Backup lights come off the side of the trans. It is probably for the cigarette lighter or ash tray light.
2) Not sure.
3) The black one in the middle with brown wire is the windshield wiper reservoir sensor, The black one with the rubber grommet cover and 3 wires (inline) goes to the radiator temp sender/switch or possibly to the AC condenser. The one with the yellow wires might be a side marker or fog. Not sure.
4) The factory fan used a three wire with a big rubber plug. It looks like the right wiring only that someone maybe modified it.
5) My fuse boxes never had one of those so... no idea.
disclaimer It has been a long time since I owned an E30 with any sort of factory wiring in it so I'm probably wrong on all of these.
orange/yellow plug on the fender should be the wiring for the brake pad wear sensor.
My fuse box doesn't have that add-on piece. Nor does our e30 racer.
Do people run the brake pad sensors? I'm going to be converting to wilwood calipers so I think I'm going to delete all of that.
I don't. I've deleted those wires. Then again, it's just two wires that trip a light on the dash then the pads wear down and the contacts hit, so not like it's a big complex system.
the first one i believe is the back up lamp switch and the wiring runs through the shift boot and harness drops down the side of the trans.
