I am clearing stuff out of my shop and have a set of these wheels to move on. Figure it would be nice if I could ID their provenance.
All I recall is that the vendor was found via this Magazine/Forum and that would be going back close to 20 years! The wheels seem quite lightweight. Oddly enough I can not find a DOT mark anywhere on them and wonder if they were meant to be track-only items or just chinesium?

I think every manufacturer made a replica of the Rota Slipstream but the "Flik Blast C" was super popular back in the oughts.
Those are most likely slipstreams judging by the oval holes between lugs.
What are the specs, and can you get them to another grm guy for relay to the challenge? I may take them....

They were all replicas of the spoon sw388. And depending on the model and cast size the ovals were in place on the originals and quite a few of the copies. The spoon wheel was the lightest wheel available for awhile in that size and was actually made by Desmond sport.
Real Rota Slips will have "Rota" cast into the back side of the hub or on one of the spokes, depending on the diameter. there are lots of wheels around being sold as "Rota Slip reps". The attached picture is from a FB ad.
There should be a JWL symbol on them someplace if they are a decent quality wheel, Rota or otherwise.

I will have a look for the JWL mark; what does it represent? Not sure how the border would factor into any relay to the challenge deal.
In reply to NOHOME :
The JWL symbol is a Japanese technical spec. Cheap cast wheels often won't meet it. There also could be a VIA symbol, which is another tech spec.

If I recall correctly the Flik Blast C was 15X6.5, very light, unnervingly cheap and only available in the matte black finish.
Edit: they were 599 for a set of 4 mounted with Azenis tires from Edge racing.
Every few years I wonder what happened to all of them. I'd swear 30% of the cars on vwvortex were running them in 2006. They were absolutely everywhere for 4 years then gone and forgotten.

You just nailed it. The rims were quite inexpensive, they came with Azenis and as noted, they are very light. I like them and have kept them around thinking I might use them in a project. But it might be time to move them on. At least I can give them a name now.

Also, I think the Slips came in various center bores, but I don't know if there was a version that used standard 73mm centering rings. What's the center bore on your wheels? They were also 15x6.5" so that detail isn't enough to differentiate them from Fliks.

Good catch as I should add it to the FB "For Sale" info.

Well, whatever they wheels were, they sure struck a cord with the buying public. Response to add on FB came in faster than I could reply; felt like selling raw meat while standing in a piranha pool. I truly wish people could write actual sentences rather than hit the "Is this still available" auto reply.
Anyhow, there is now a spot in my shop with the 3D dimensions of 4 wheels and tires. Gotta go buy something. I don't have a TKX.

That's more Facebook's fault, it seems like if you even look at your phone wrong it fires off an "Is this still available"
