WE ARE MOBILE, MARCH HARE
Hell berkeleying no. I ain't touchin' E36 M3. Not sure I even want to put fuel in it myself, I want an adult for that.
(Flashback: Nationals '14. Got scolded for refueling my car without someone standing by with a fire extinguisher. wae offers to be my second, wielding an extinguisher like a baseball bat while exclaiming "Okay, if you catch fire, I'll hit you with this!")
A good ending to the story. Maybe get a Walmart induction tach next time?
Just tek-screw it to the hood, you don't need aero for rallycross.
I tried to make the idle more nice and eliminate the off-idle hiccup... it's still kinda there but better and it's gone once off idle.
But I'm testing this on city streets. Lots of PWSHH
VmmmPWHSSHvmmmPWSHHvmmPSHHvmmPWSHHvmmPWSHH 35mph...
I almost want to get one of those $89 cast manifolds for my GTI and put a turbo on it so I can have this much silly fun in such a light car. I already have the GTI and it already needs an exhaust and a fuel system. And there's a guy importing gearbox bits from Czech-land, get a close ratio dogbox for the 020 for $2500 or so...
The first time I drove the miata on the street to an event I felt the same way.
The funniest part was that after a while it seemed completely normal.
Then when I had a tsi VW rental car I texted Evan that something must be wrong with it because it didn't sound like the miata at all.
The Volvo is completely tame in comparison. It has a very muted shush that you only hear if you let off the throttle at a low speed.
On the other hand, the Volvo will build 12psi at 2000rpm. And it tends to go in the direction it's pointed.
You know what else goes in the direction it's pointed? The RX-7. And when I get the rearend put back together, it probably would tolerate a moderately sized turbo. Street tuned a TA58-fed Buick this week. (It's a Buick-specific Precision 58mm turbo) Blowoff PSHH is nice but there's something to be said for the seconds of compressor surge that a larger turbo offers when run without any kind of dump at all.
By my guesstimation, a 5858 is pretty durn close to the K27 turbos that most of the force fed Group B cars ran. As a completely unrelated aside with absolutely nothing at all to do with my ultimate plans for the Quantum.
