So like many of you here, I have a strange automotive illness. This illness causes me to buy strange, cheap POS machines whenever I have any sort of extra $$ in my pocket. Like the sentimental animal lover that can't go to the shelter without bringing home a new pet, I can't seem to turn down a good deal.
So out of my 5 vehicles, only 1 is currently in running order. This one special machine is the beastly Van / RV and it really isn't suitable for driving every day. Most folks in this situation would bite the bullet and bring a car into a shop, fork over the $$ and pay to have a running machine. But really....what fun is that?
Especially when you can just buy a $400 AMC and drive that until the time allows to fix the debilitated driveway occupants!
Behold my latest POS! It's a 81 AMC Concord-- 57K miles (believed to be original) it runs like a cream puff, and smells like........well nevermind.

The plan is to drive it for a few weeks until the M3 is up and running and then sell it to some sucker. (Tom Heath....I'm looking at you!)
Javelin approves of this thread!
What engine?
My best friend drove one of those for a long time. We named it the conquistacord
It has the beastly 258cid straight six. This is nearly identical to my Eagle, just 2wd. Even the blue interior is a match! Lots of parts cannibalization to come!
I have 5 vehicles only which of one runs as well. That thing is awesome!
I'm digging that blue interior!
nice score... but I'd still want a t-case
Some dark tint blankets = mobile motel

Nice! I've always wanted one of those, but my sickness has pointed me to Jeeps a little more.
This is why your mag still sells (and gets bigger) while others fail, Joe. Y'all are just as crazy as we are. Good luck with the party wagon!

I bet you it smells like a dog has been livin' in it for 20 years
New reality series:
"5 cars and none of them run"
The jug of water on the passenger floor can't be the only spare you carry. Where's the tool set, jumper cables, brake fluid, oil, extra cap and rotor, belts, duct tape, hose clamps, zip ties, etc that the rest of us carry?
Edit: Forgot to say - nice ride!
I fail to see why this guy calls this car a POS. Also, is it 4 wheel drive?
I'd like to get an AMC someday...gremlin or pacer
In reply to Joe Gearin:
You're not sick and twisted. You just have good taste in cars.

no, pretty sure i spilled juicyjuice/milk/barf in that about 27 years ago.
my bad, joe
That is essentially a Jeep with a wagon body right?
I can't remember the last time I saw one of those in the flesh.
And do not feel bad.. I have 4 cars now.. and only one even has an engine in it.

Is that what stained the carpet in the rear seat? I just assumed it was blood.....
For the uninitiated, the AMC Eagle is the 4wd version (all Eagles are 4wd) This is basically the evolution of the Hornet--- 2wd.
and Eagles are not Jeeps underneath. They use a different 4wd system than the Jeeps had.
Funny thing is, this car really just needs a bit of TLC and a very, very thorough cleaning. It runs incredibly smoothly, turns stops, idles, all that jazz.
Tom Heath has dibs for now......that is after we "fix" the rust under the rear-side windows by making it a panel van!
I know, I know.....I'll ruin it's resale value!
tell me you will then add porthole windows. like the pinto cruising wagon.

Any 4.0 HO turned stroker swaps in the mix?
There is an Eagle down the street from me. I am tempted to stop every time I pass it on my way to work.
I seem to have similar issues to you. Nice buy though. I had a beater Taurus wagon that my brother and his family lived in for a while. Smelled awful. I sprayed in two bottle of Febreeze and it is much more reasonable.
