Cash is in pocket. Impatiently awaiting quitting time so I can go pick up the new wheels. Perhaps the boss will let me go early.
1963 Falcon Futura 4dr.
A very straight and honest car. It has had a repaint in the original Champagne color in its past. Spent almost its entire life in the Idaho desert.
A red interior that will make the most 70's chinese restaurant tremble in envy and a recently rebuilt 170ci six coupled to the thrifty 3 on the tree.
Plans are to clean it, swap it to five lug and lower it and enjoy for now. In the future I am actually considering a 4.0 V6/5spd swap with EFI to make it a nice freeway cruiser.
So excited right now.
check the floorpans. looks like water stains on the carpets, as well as check the widshield area for rust/leaks.
rust sucks.
michael
I pulled up the carpets and slid around underneath it with a pick. It is solid!
That is a nice cruiser man!
So stoked to see this thing!
Also, jealous.
Somehow I think I'm not done with Falcons yet.
Hey. Where's the truck bed?!
Sweet whip.
That is fantastic. Even better for a factory manual trans.
I like the 5speed swap idea, but would keep the 170 and add injection/better ignition. wasn't there a larger displacement version of this engine, 240? (The 300 is all different right?)
Sweet, all you need to go with it is greasy black hair, tattood sleaves, and a hipster hat. Looks nice and good luck with it!
Column shifting, too. Excellent.
That is nice...
Congrats...
Three in the tree is cool for shifting. The vaguest yet most successful shifts.
Who needs to eat? I am gonna grab it on my lunch break.
Had to youtube videos of Ford 3 on the Tree shift patterns. Hopefully I will remember correctly.
Congrats! Very cool. I had to pass on the Rambler with the "3-on-the-tree", so I'm going to live vicariously thru you!
and that is exactly the type of classic I wouldn't mind having tucked away in my garage, and even commuting with occasionally in the warmer months.
Check the rear frame rails, especially around the shackles. Also, NEVER get rid of the column shifter.

At least until you try to speed shift 1-2 and end up getting it in reverse and 1st at the same time. It's kind of exciting when the rear end locks up and the engine stalls. I'm still amazed the transmission in the Chevelle didn't explode.
Seller had some things come up and can't meet me until tomorrow.
That car is sexy!!! Congrats!!!
Those shifters work fine when they are adjusted properly and the linkage is not worn out. But adjusting is quite the exercise. You just think you have it and you loose second gear.
I would just put some good michelins on there and dynamat the whole interior and enjoy it.
My first car ('75 Nova) had three on the tree. I got to where I could open the door, hang out while dangling by the steering wheel, and reach under to unjam the linkage when it got stuck at stoplights without actually unbelting from the seat.
I'm sure they're adequate when in good nick, but when swap time comes, the floor shift would be a welcome update...
I'm having trouble even thinking through the motions of a heel-toe downshift with a column shifter...
"6cyl, Three on the Tree" welcome to the club man. That first shift is a "you-know-what" when aiming for a small hole in traffic
That is one sexy car though. Congrats!
