Since I am moving into a house with a garage now, I have made arrangements with my dad to drag my '68 Corvair out of the back of his garage.
He is actually excited as well, partially because he is going to gain garage space, and partially because it's his old autocross car and he wants to see it up and running again.
I will have it in about a month, so once I get it, expect to see a build thread.
In for pics of said car autocrossing in the past.
Hell, in for pics of said car.
Good on ya for getting some workspace!
awesome rob! i love that car. how far from a solid runner do you think she is?

I don't know really. The engine needs refreshing seeing that it hasn't run in over 30 years, but having working on Corvairs as long as I have, I have no doubt that we could have it running. My dad however wants to pull the engine and go through it. I don't have a problem with that, it's easy to pull the engine.
Everything else is going to have to get gone through. I know its going to need fuel lines and brake lines. We are going to check the floor and trunk pans just to make sure they are sturdy, since the car sat in water for a few months at the storage space it was at for years.
I can't wait to finally have a project for me to tinker around with.
Sweet! A garage is the most important 'tool' you can have.
For sure. I'm really glad. I was back at the house this afternoon and I have all sorts of stuff going through my head and how I want the Garage set up.
I'm really antsy for the Monza right now. It definitely is special to my dad therefore it's special to me. My dad did a lot of custom touches to the car, like splash guards molded into the body, NACA ducts in the rear quarters, a Fitch Sprint style "Ventop" roof, and a Yenko Stinger style deck lid. I'm glad I have the garage space now.
