This is Kazutoshi Mizuno explaining why he chose to make the R35GTR so heavy. On one hand there's so much here that doesn't make sense I am inclined to blow it off. On the other hand, he's the engineer in charge of making the most brutally fast road car under 200k in the world so he's got to know something.

but the radical sr8 is still like 30 seconds faster round the ring, and also under 200k

What I take away from this is that our daily drivers should look like this
It sounded like he wants a certain normal force and kind of doesn't care how he gets it. Seems strange, almost like he thinks this would be the ultimate handling machine.
I will admit that it is odd. The Gospel Of Chapman teaches us that "Adding horsepower makes a car faster in the straights. Adding lightness makes it faster everywhere"
