Ok, I've decided that I don't want a FWD car any more. Suggestions anyone? Miata's are out, I Don't fit well, weird cause I'm only 5'10". 2 or 4 doors doesn't matter. What are some suggestions. Oh one of the other frustrating things about the SHO is there is a small community out there that is modifying them and parts are hard to come by, and I hate FWD lol.

When the answer is other than Miata, the response is: E30

ooh yeah older too, one thing about the pacific nw is the amount of rust free classics. E30 is cool but ehh everyone drives one that's why I bought the sho in the first place to be different than everyone else. Honestly there's too much that I don'thave the time to do on this car like valve and timing belt and rod bearing changes every 60k. So daily driveable is something I need too.

Look for a Fairmont, dude. Came in several different flavors, can have four doors if you want, large aftermarket, RWD... Sleeper. Kinda ugly too, but eh.

Whereabouts in the PacNW are you? I can offer a ride in either a 1st Gen RX-7 (232K miles NEVER been rebuilt!) that autocrosses and DD's quite well, or the infamous original GRM P71 in all it's 14-second, track-daying glory. Both fit your fun, easy to work on, cheap, and RWD requirements. As a former SHO owner I feel your pain (small "younger" community, ridiculous maintenance, FWD, still a damn Taurus, and slower then any modern normal V6 sedan).

I'd also look at old Camaros and Firebirds, like late 2nd Gen, early 3rd Gen...

yes that's exactly my dilema, and very little local enthusiasts either. I'm on Ft Lewis. My old First sergeant had a 1st gen rxz he autocrossed I always liked those. I had a 95 z28, I gotta say i hate optispark with a passion, though that thing was fun. Right now I'm cruising CL and see all sorts of stuff I like. I gotta get rid of this SHO without pissing off the wife too bad. All day I've been chanting under my breath I'm getting a new car, she goes huh?!? I say you heard me lol.

Pacific Northwest? Hmmm....IPD's out there....Derek's on the right track. Rear drive Volvo turbo or V8 swap. But I'm sure that you can find one closer than New Hampshire.

lol I should add that I have a limited budget, 1000 or less, or what I can get for my SHO and parts car that goes with it.

yeah I've looked at all of those, my search is all from 500-1500 I really like that corolla, a lot. The alfa leaves me with the hard to find parts issue again

The Alfetta looks in decent nick for a $1000 car. But, I'd be all over that Corolla.

Emailed about the corolla. Thats about exactly what I want, though I still need to rid my self of the SHO, man I need to be less impulsive. I tried to convince myself I wanted the SHO, just it hasn't really gotten my devotion, not like my 300zx or WRX.

I would love to pick up a decent E30 for my wife, but everything is so rusted, dented, has a billion miles or is someones baby and is way overpriced. I think the 5-Series are easier to come by. But for $1000, high mileage is kinda a forgone conclusion.

RWD eliminates some nice options, like the Maxima, Intrepid R/T, supercharged Pontics and Buicks...and of course the SHO which you already know about.

If I had $1000 to spend on a RWD car, I would look for a police-surplus Mustang, an 80's turbo Buick, or an RX-7.

I think I've decided that I want a compact or sub compact, that's one of the other things that drives me nuts about this car, it barely fits in my garage, honestly my garage is tiny, I'd rather have one of the carports some of the people have here on post. I'd rather be cold than cramped while working on a car. With a shorter car my motorcycle can be stored indoors again.

In the world of GRM if the answer is not a Miata, E30 or P71 then it's a Volvo.

I'd keep looking up 1st Gen RX-7's then. We have a HUGE 7 community up here, and it will fit in your garage. Check these out:

Of course, you can't spell trusty without rusty ;)...lol

Merkurs are cool but I'd figure they're kind of like the rear drive equivalent of the SHO along the lines of looks and upkeep. I haven't had an SHO though, so I only know about half of what I'm talking about...

some of the other ones are nice but way over priced, I still want that corolla though (closer to my price range)

There's a 93 i think it was that's pretty nice though way out of my price range.
