I watched a few. I cannot imagine what it's like to even be a passenger. I felt like grabbing the non-existent grab handles at every turn.
Is it really that amazing?
Can anyone tell me what this first car is? I'm not up to date with interiors:

1st vid says it's a 228i in the description, but the way it's worded it's awkward. But there is definitely a roundel on the steering wheel and a BMW-style interior, so.

Saw a bmw logo on the steering wheel.
The first one is a BMW 228i

Yes. Yes it is. I drove it 6 laps in 2012 and it was one of the best days of my life. I rented a Scirocco Cup car for way too much money and then went out and spanked all sorts of exotic Euro hardware for the afternoon. If you are timid or just want to cruise, that's fine- Just stay on the right side of the road and let all the fast cars by, just like every other road in Germany.
In reply to _ :
Yes, I knew it was a BMW by the steering wheel but missed any other nomenclature on which model.
Sure seemed fast for a "regular car".

That video makes me miss the days when external wastegates were relatively rare. If you take the blehch out of shhhhhhhBLEHCHCHCHCHCH you just have shhhhhhh and that's kinda nice.
Also, that would have been a lot harder to do if that car made any torque. That's a nice setup for attacking at those speeds. Pretty much 90% of the time, floor it and steer. Also at least 7 years of practice in the same car, apparently. I think i'll move in next door to the Ring and send yall a cool video in 2026! Get ready!

I mean, you probably want 300 laps before you'd be comfortable doing that pace in a 228i. I'd rather be wearing a helmet at a minimum, but I felt relatively comfortable with the pace they were going. Also, I sat in on a conversation one of the other rental places was having with their "experienced drivers" about not showing a "full chat" lap to a customer who still had laps left on their rental, because they'd be more likely to get into an accident.

Keep in mind, that's Kevin Estre, on a trackday... if I'm reading the stickers right. So there's limited cars, and Estre is a factory Porsche driver who's helped win LeMans, and has won the N24 at least once... and also has done this:

dude knows all of the track, and then some
is it really that amazing?
Yes, even at just base "I've never been here" tourist pace in a Swift, and everywhere in between. The problem is, there is very little margin for error.

Personally, I'm not a fan of that video. Came across it a while ago. He's driving a old '90's crap box with extra power... and maybe a half cage and belts for crash protection? Although, watching him bounce around in the seat, I wonder if he's not in a 3-point? No helmet. He's driving way to aggressive for that setup, especially considering out close he came to wiping out in Foxhole (Fuchsroehre).
edit:
Here's some, "what happens if you get Foxhole wrong" crash:
https://youtu.be/ORA-oB-qbOI?t=509
https://youtu.be/umWGoO-OFgo?t=567
And it's clearly TF... so, he's 'leaning' on some the cars he passing in a way that raises the risk for everyone involved in a way that's out-of-line with the parameters of a TF lap... regardless of wearing a harness or helmet. He's looking for a time, and if you want to do that... you really should be doing it during a trackday, not during TF. And you should probably do it with a half cage, full harness and a helmet.

I clicked and was going to close the tab because it wasn't the one I was going to link, but then I saw the kanji and things like "slippy" and "CA18DET" and decided, well, let's give it a shot.

One of the people I follow on YouTube is a sim racer. (He also owns a turbo MX-5) Thanks to his incredibly vast number of followers, he has been able to do such awesome things as do some actual driving, buy a Skyline GT-R (R32), and, most recently, drive on his favorite track for the first time in real life.
My Emotional First Lap Of The Nordschleife
I love watching Jimmy's videos. For one, I've been watching Nurby videos since "Lap1" and "Lap2" were encoded from the Faszination video and put on some certain Scandinavian website in the mid-1990s, and it's a given that he WILL produce regular videos of him driving anything and everything there. For two, he's genuine, both in his commentary and his reactions.

But non-manual cars are boring, and you're not as engaged in the driving process!
Let's not forget the Ring Taxi service.

In car videos of the ring don't scare me.
In car rally videos on the other hand...
I'll just leave this here...

I've got some respectable time there and there's still a couple sections that I feel like I don't know well enough to even push it much. The crazy part, though, is when you get into traffic. Sure you may learn the rhythm after a while and may even learn the line for most of it, but the place is so ridiculously narrow that when there's other race traffic around that knowledge matters very little. Passing slower cars with better track knowledge—even with twice the power—was still sketchy AF.
Probably just as bad as G-body's link but here. One of my favorites.

I'd agree with that!
Its funny, I watched several other Nurburgring videos and they mostly don't have the same effect as that BMW did. Every fast corner I felt impending doom. Maybe because I'm a "physics" and anatomy guy. Meaning: I know what'll happen to the human body at race-car impact speeds with street car safety equipment.
Honestly I think the best part of any modern 'ring video is the contrast between Porsches and French hatchbacks.

I relate to that. I lack any illusion of safety. Flip side of that is i can be pretty self righteous about my driving. If i'm going fast it's because i'm pretty damn sure it's safe and i've never been wrong. I think i act out my semi-paranoia in relatively benign ways. At least im not part of the group that made my state open-carry, for example. *drops mic, runs*
In reply to Vigo :
I don't know, I was in a store in N.H. And a pretty, young female was open carrying. I felt completely safe. We can't do that in MA.
Probably not the best place to discuss this topic though.

Masterclass in conservation of momentum. It hurts to see him having to downshift in some of the uphill sections.
