On Friday I drove home a total heap of a JDM AE92 Levin GTS to use as a donor for rebuilding and swapping the engine, brakes and high-enriched-unobtanium 2.5 turn PS rack (aww yeah!) into my 'rolla. The rust hadn't come off the rear discs even though it had been driven a couple of times, and it vibrated terribly when I hit the brakes.

When I was looking it over initially I noticed that a lug was missing from one wheel. When I got home I noticed that actually two were missing - because the bolts were sheared off - and the two that were still in place were next to each other well that explains the vibration under braking, good thing I drove gently and didn't hit any potholes...

I drove a car from Michigan to Texas that had a bad tie rod. It would enter a death shudder at 52mph and resolve itself at 58 mph. Slowing down, it would again pass through the zone of death, but it was worse under braking. That drive sucked and I'm still slightly surprised I didn't die. I know how you feel.

back in '95, i bought a 68 Chevelle Nomad wagon 150 miles from home. i felt a weird little vibration at low speeds when i was about 5 miles from the guy's house after buying the car.. i checked everything over at the gas station, and didn't see anything wrong.. i got it back to my hometown and stopped at the gas station to check the fuel mileage, and it had that same really bad low speed vibration and the right front wheel looked crooked.. i popped the dog dish hub cap off, and all 5 lug nuts were loose.. i tightened them down and the vibration went away... i drove 150 miles with a loose wheel- with 100 of those miles being done at 80mph on the interstate and 30 miles on twisty back roads at 60mph, and the only time i felt any sort of a vibration at all was at 5mph in gas station parking lots.

I had an RX-7 where I suddenly found myself with about 3" of toe-in on one corner, shortly after purchase. Kicked the tire and it straightened out. Very gingerly drove it home.

One of the strut-to-steering arm bolts was broken off, with about 2 threads' worth of bolt sticking out to act as a locator. The other bolt was a little loose.

Later, after fixing that well enough to drive (through-drilled it and shoved an M8 bolt in to hold it together) I took it to a former employer's to borrow their alignment rack. That's when I discovered that every castellated nut in the steering linkage was tightened down like a wheel bearing. Finger tight, back off 1/8 turn, cotter pin. At this point I'd had the car for maybe 500 miles, most of it highway driving.

Not yet

Edit: Also, sorry, it's a Trueno. The ones branded "Levin" had fixed headlights.
